The latest gossip rumour I've seen lists half a dozen clubs interested in him AND we're NOT amongst them, so we may, indeed, not be interested in him. We probably don't have the funds, in any case, and what funds we do have will be earmarked for Wilf or if he doesn't re-sign, possibly Jack Clarke.

Any deal for Clarke will be a fee, add-ons and a sell-on percentage.
There are options of course - like Demarai Gray.

Depending upon the terms of a deal I would take Gray.
While he’s never really fulfilled the potential which he demonstrated as a youngster, he still has something to offer.
He’s pacy and tricky with a good shot in both feet and his inconsistency may be less of an issue if he was used as an option from the bench.
He’s also experienced in premier league terms, is not old at 26 and has a goal in him.

Gray has featured in around 200 PL games, Clarke is yet to register a PL game to his name.

It does make you wonder that we have had some senior players come to the end of contracts and not replaced them (3 midfielders out in McArthur, Milivojevic and Lokonga and one in Lerma on a free).

Of course, plenty of time to go before pre season but it never bodes well that we have a track record of moving players on without replacing them.

On the players wages and contracts, over 90% of our income.

The transfer window only opens this coming Wednesday. We've picked up the decent freebie we wanted (at what cost in sign on fee and wages who knows?). Very early days still so no need to panic (Yet)!.

That's incredible if true Lanzo. On that basis, getting relegated leaves you mightily exposed very quickly. No wonder clubs are playing hardball over JWP's transfer fee.

Clubs relegated from the PL receive so called 'Parachute payments'.

'Parachute payments' are payments the PL makes to relegated clubs, for up to three years, to help them adapt to reduced revenues back in the Championship.
They have been worth about £30m per year to clubs, on average, in recent seasons.
These payments cease if the relegated club returns to the PL within that three year period.

SSN saying in discussions with Sporting and Coventry want 17 million.

Where else can you buy a top line international striker for 17 million these days?

Just hope if we pass this up that Dougie has something up his sleeve ....

The need is as great as ever.
