He did used to be on Brighton's books, so it would be funny to sign him and see him shine. Our ability to sign him will likely be limited by how serious the interest is from Wolves and West Ham, as well as our transfer budget, of course.

Chris Hughton signed him from a Swedish club.Mark Robins signed him for Coventry from Brighton for £1.1 Mill.
He only played in the League Cup for Brighton who loaned him out to a club in the Bundesliga and to Swansea and to Coventry who of course eventually signed him.
Steve Cooper signed him on loan whilst he was managing Swansea.

Thought I heard about clubs bidding for him yesterday - not us. 17 mil plus add ons.

Seems this rumour is picking up speed, us & Fulham seem to be the favourites for now . . .

Personally, £17m seems a decent price for a 'proven' goalscorer. Agree with others tho, we don't need to get involved in a bidding war for him. Time will tell.

This operation, will make the 'Charge Of The Light Brigade' seem like a simple military exercise.

So, go for him

He has the attributes we seek: Young (24), regular international, good hold-up play, has feints and tricks and can shoot!

Glen Murray Mark Two.

Sounds a bit like Alexander Sørloth

You'd hope that getting a guaranteed starting spot might give us the edge if we both have bids accepted. Mitrovic has been so good for them.

Apparently Brighton sold him after Potter arrived as he wasn’t deemed suitable for a more possession based approach.

On that basis, I’d sooner we signed Gyokeres and didn’t appoint Potter.

I'll be surprised if he lights up the premier. From what I've seen, looks very similar to Connor Wickham who was ok before injuries took hold, but nothing special.
It's a shame that Edouard seems to blow hot and cold. He must be very close to being good.

The brief bits I've seen on the box he looks a really good player.

The fifteen goals a season man isn't about so much now but someone who works the opposition defence and has the genuine ability bring others into attacking third like he appears to would be a real asset IMO.

Given the number of apparent other suitors (West Ham, Wolves, Fulham and Sporting Lisbon) I will be surprised if he ends up at Palace

I have not heard that we are actually interested in Gyokeres.

The latest gossip rumour I've seen lists half a dozen clubs interested in him AND we're NOT amongst them, so we may, indeed, not be interested in him. We probably don't have the funds, in any case, and what funds we do have will be earmarked for Wilf or if he doesn't re-sign, possibly Jack Clarke.
