Not a time for experimentation with managers unfamiliar with the Premier League (e.g the Celtic manager or Fevre).
I’d also be apprehensive about Lampard or Gerrard - great players often don’t make even good managers.
Santo and Benitez are two available experienced managers who have good organisational skills although Santo failed at Spurs and Benitez at Everton.
Mind you most managers have at least one failure on their cvs.
What’s unclear at the moment is if we’re looking for a stopgap until the end of the season or a longer term appointment.
Could be a bit of both I suppose I.e ‘II’ll join but if the club go down, I’m off.’

Wow , in the last 20 mins Roy Hodgson had gone from 4/1 to 5/4 to be next manager surely not ???

There isn't an obvious choice for new manager. That's the problem with sacking a manager mid-season, it's not a question of whether Vieira did badly enough to deserve the boot, it's about whether there is somebody better available, and who wants to come.

There's something about Gerrard that, despite everyone being against him, I think would suit Palace. I think it'll be Nathan Jones. I don't know if there's anyone particularly exciting. Maybe we can try and nab Will Still. If we were to go backwards, even for the short term, i'd hope for Dougie or Allardyce. I honestly thing Allardyce is the best manager we've had that I can remember and I think he could work wonders with this team

Why would Roy want to come back? He's earned his place in the sun.

Somehow not surprised. No one else as a short term appointment comes to mind and doubt we will be planning for after this season. We would be daft to gamble now and need secure hands. No guarantees on any appointment but my guess is either DF taking over on the pitch or Roy back however poorly it seems a solution.

I also like Gerrard and think he deserves an interview as does Jesse Marsch. Add Benitez and Hasenhutti and you have a great short-list. Marsch would ace the interview though.

I notice Nuno Santos is on the bookies list. Anyone who works in Saudi should be immediately barred from working for an inclusive club like Palace. I hope Parish is not even considering him.

I don’t know , but he took over Watford , the betting speaks volumes , I’m suprised Carrick is 20/1 as I seriously thought he was coming but it does look like Roy now….
