I get we're all frustrated, god knows I am after watching the football we played last season versus this one, but without a backer to plough tens if not hundreds of millions into the club, what do people realistically expect Parish to do?

I know a lot of people say we should all "stop going on about the past" but the fact of the matter is that 13 odd years ago we were a gnats wing away from going out of existence. We somehow managed to stay in the Championship and then against the odds made it into the Prem where we've enjoyed 10 years (and hopefully 11!) of residency. That doesn't happen with a sh!te chairman, you can't have that much luck.

Granted the lack of not having a decent striker or retaining Gallagher (or a clone) is something that questions need asking on, but I would wager that the answer would be simply that we don't have the funds for anyone who could hit the ground running in the Prem. There's always people with potential, but we've tried that and ended up with Mateta and Édouard, to guarantee a proven striker in the prem costs silly money. We've not been taken over or backed by a bored billionaire, where does everyone think the money is coming from? Parish has brough in these investors, have they injected billions? No, but he has brought them in in an attempt to get more money into the club and they've bank rolled the Academy and Vieira's spending spree last season. Parish doesn't have the money to bank roll a prem club (ala Tony Bloom) and we all saw what happened with Goldberg and Jordan when you plough your entire fortune into a football club.

I don't buy the argument that we shouldn't invest funds into the ground either, the main stand is probably close to falling down given the age of it and we hardly market ourselves as a top notch prem team when we try and get players in and they see the ground. Don't even start on the bogs and food and drink for the fans (I'm in the Arthur ) it all needs a desperate upgrade and that costs money.

I'm genuinely interested to know what people think Parish should do differently and I mean realistically not this b0llocks of "Parish has to go and sell to a billionaire" which seems to be the main thrust of people's suggestions. I'm sure if an unknown Palace fan with deep pockets suddenly wanted to buy the club that Parish would step aside from ownership, but I don't see one, do you?

And with the Vieira/Hodgson stuff, personally I'm not excited to see Roy back, but I'll support him nonetheless. Again though, if Parish had backed Vieira and we'd got relegated then everyone would of said he should of sacked him and he's an idiot for not doing that and the response will likely be the same if Roy doesn't keep us up and everyone says we should of stayed with Vieira. No win situation (and I'm not talking about the results for the rest of the season..).

Rant over.

The trouble with computers, of course, is that they're very sophisticated idiots

So. f***ing. What.

People keep saying this in defense of Parish, like it's some sort of "get out of jail free" card. It's not. There are 36,000 people who love the club at Selhurst Park every week. Their passion cannot be doubted. I wouldn't want 35,999 of them managing the team or directing the company (if you're wondering, the comedy value of Willo in the dugout is the exception). I don't give a f*** if Parish loves the club. I just want him to be competent at his job.

If anyone really loved the club surely they'd do whatever was best for the club outside of their individual involvement or interests?

I don't want to slate Parish to the extent others have, firstly for what he has achieved but secondly as it would be with limited insight but it seems less and less as though he is acting in the best interests of Palace and more and more his own.

He does not have the financial clout to move the club forward and I cannot see a model whereby he remains in control of all things whilst spending others' money, which is what he seems to be trying to orchestrate. It is Gollum-esque with him desperately clinging to control of Palace which at this stage only ever comes across as obstructive to progress. The original argument for him, from what I gathered, was built upon fear of Palace's continual existential crisis whereby he was some sort of guardian and fan representing saviour. That's all becoming somewhat old hat, irrelevant and less workable now but furthermore looks as though it may contribute to another demise. I also think it dangerous he seems so involved in the footballing side of things, that shouldn't be his place.

There must come a point where he has to step aside and say 'I've done all I can do and get out of this situation, but trying to compete with Saudi et al money is way out of my league'. We may well be way out of the league at that point too however.

I am happy for all this to be rubbished btw if nonsense, just my thoughts on things.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Doesn't matter who the manager is next season, not enough money put in to buying players next season, no new stadium if we go down back to square one, no stadium that is never going to happen, the club needs a change off direction, Parish is past his sell buy date

Sure it would help.

Pretty sure Brentford's first 11 cost somewhere in the region of £55m. And I remember a stat early this year after Brighton beat Everton, that their team cost less than Iwobi.

There are bargains everywhere. We jsut need to get better at it. A few Brighton examples:

Mitoma - £2.5m
Caicedo - £4.5m
Mac Allister - £7m

The difference being, that because Brighton have a decent team, they can afford to buy young and cheap.

We have such a poor squad that we need bodies in the first team immediately

I don't think there is any chance of a new stand going up until an investor turns up with some very deep pockets. To try doing it on debt etc would, in my opinion, be disastrous

Tony Bloom is a one off and will become better and better known as brighton continue their extraordinary march. It's not just where they are now, but how they have got there that is staggering. Bloom is way ahead of most other football club owners. He has positioned himself in such a strong position and now holds over 98% of Brighton FC, while his pockets continue to deepen on the back of Star Lizard.

Contrarily, we are in an unenviable position of no one holding the reins, and it would appear our various shareholders not sharing much if any mutual common ground.

To stay on track with where football is heading is not going to be easy for us, and unless Harris and or Blitzer grab a hold of Palace which seems very unlikely, our only real hope to get out of what is looking like treacle would be to hope and pray a guardian angel turns up.

I also enjoy a seat in the Arfur cattle shed and even enjoy the feeling of going back in time at every home game.
The least they could do in the meantime would be either to let me bring in the grilled chicken from the end of the road, or provide something that has some form of nutritious value. Man City game I bought a chicken Balti pie with no chicken in it. Virtually needed a mortgage to buy it.

Last season the board backed Vieira. This season they haven’t, and look at the difference. I’m absolutely flabbergasted that the board didn’t see the sense in backing him this season, which they clearly haven’t.
So, in their terms they’ve penny pinched and it now looks almost nailed on that they’ll lose all those millions through relegation.
It’s hardly surprising that we can’t recruit decent players when there’s a complete lack of ambition. If I was a talented player I wouldn’t want to sign for a club whose only objective is to avoid relegation by the skin of its teeth. You don’t get trophies for that! The board seem to take the fans for granted. None of us are kept informed. Just like Brighton and Brentford, our fans pay their hard earned wages to watch their team. However, unlike Brighton and Brentford this season, all we’ve watched is dross. So yes Mr.Parish, please stand up.

We need to do what the Everton fans are doing and protest about the board. I am sure the HF can organise something outside the ground with flares and banners etc.

Parrish will listen if he thinks his beloved mini or barnet are going to get damaged.

The press seem to be releasing more and more shambolic and depressing stories. Sounds farcical. I guess what do you expect when your Director of Football and Chairman are as inexperienced as ours. A good, solid DoF wouldn't go astray for us.

Good post. I would add that if anyone deserves some stick its whoever identified Mateta and Edouard as good strikers. `They have been spectacularly useless so far Mr Freeman.
