One area of football where greater transparency is required is that of transfers.

In my view, details should be published of who gets what - recipient club, player, manager, agent and anyone else with a stake in the transaction.

Does any money bypass club accounts find its way direct into the wallets/handbags of individual directors?

It’s a murky business, and the reputation of football would surely be enhanced by 100 per cent clarity.

I also think players should be obliged to declare which agents represent them.

In fairness to FIFA and others they have tried to regulate the market but it is almost impossible.

At one time some managers were getting a kickback oops sorry I mean a well earned percentage e.g. Terry Venebles with us. I believe that is now banned however one Man United manager got around this by appointing his son as one of the agents and therin lies the problem.

There are all sorts of "intermediaries" as opposed to agents ranging from the players father / brother etc all getting a kick back which they may or may not have earned.

Why would a club as big and successful as Manchester United need to pay an agent to find players to buy? They have a widespread scouting department and agents are queuing up to push their player at the club. Signing for a top 6 club is hardly a difficult sell:

- Do you want to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world?
- Are you happy with the vast salary they are offering?
- Do you want to play in the biggest domestic tournament in the world?

So i find it very suspicious when clubs have buying agents as it normally means something else is going on.

Anyway as long as they report their taxes none of this is illegal just amoral.
