Based on the average investment each season it is no surprise that two players who are regular starters get new deals. Ayew works harder than most of the players and that is something everyone is always banging on about wanting to see and Schlupp seems to do what he's told, which is probably why he starts so often. If we stay up I personally would probably rather see them as backup rather than regular starters, but if we go down both would be relatively affordable and capable players. It also gives a bit more time to see if the likes of Killian Phillips, Rak-Sakyi, Ozoh, etc,. are able to fill their boots. If we go down then our academy players will almost certainly come to the fore, but we'll still need some experience around them.

As long as they are NOT in the starting line-up (add Luka here), we just have to live them. Schlupp all right coming on with 20 minutes to go and we need a goal, Ayew opposite, we need to defend the lead. At least, dreaming is free.

Whilst Ayew puts in considerable effort, he hasnt really mastered scoring or passing to someone in a scoring position which frustrates the hell out of me. I dont mind Schluppso much, at least he puts it about and can bundle the odd useful goal in. As has been said useful squad players but more important reinforcements needed soon

I dont imagine that either of them were on sky high wages under their existing contracts either.

I can absolutely guarantee they are on 'sky high' wages. Probably £60k-£80k per week.

I just read in the Athletic that Schlupp and Ayew have signed new 1 year deals. That should cheer the fans up.

Cheered me up even more after that result thank you.

And both deserve it.

Apart from today you need to think again.

Yes Schlupp is a second half player for sure and a damn good one and as for Ayew if you wish to ignore what he achieves then that is your loss.

Some say Schlupp had a good game - I think he ran more than before.

He managed to get the ball in space BUT seemed to lack confidence to take players on

He always looks for Wilf

He had three good chances to go it alone & take a punt - he has no confidence to
Where being on 60k a week he should have the confidence to Rob a bank with no cctv or guards & tills open - but ……….

By the way we’re the team stuff at half time, told to sit back & allow them to have space OR the spliff did the rounds ?

Not disasterous news.
Provided, as has already been said, there are better options to start next season, assuming we stay up.
Today though, would have liked to have seen Lokonga and not Ayew when Wilf had to go off.
