Wonderful news for the club. The progression of Palace is still snowballing. Surely the extra revenue that it would generate would cover the costs so that the progression on the pitch can continue.

Roughly guessing the costs and income I would think the stand would take maybe 15 years before it pays for itself. With costs and interest maybe 20. Just guesses, could be longer, I can't imagine it being much quicker.

A redevelopment of the Whitehorse would be a lot cheaper than the main stand. It is bound to happen eventually.

Not in our lifetimes it isn't.

Palace since 19 August 1972. Palace 1 (Tony Taylor) Liverpool 1 (Emlyn Hughes)

It's interesting how confident these local journalists are that the cost has risen by 50% when the work hasn't even gone out to tender yet.

I would guess a 50% increase in initial costings is conservative. If you have any knowledge of the building industry, costs of raw materials are rising continually, due to the old economic favourite of supply and demand.

If it costs £150m as suggested and generates £30m a year as suggested that's a 5 year pay back

It's about premium customers isn't it? the new stand allows them to increase the general tickets whilst charging a premium to high end customers and make more profit to plough into their pockets (the teams hopefully)

I'm not sure the white horse will have the same allure for premium tickets

I agree that it's the right thing to do but both figures are probably best case projections.

Fair enough, with inflationary pressures £30m might buy you a loaf of bread in 12 months

Dont want to sound negative, but with the modern day game, CP Park would have so much better infrastructure than SP. Either way, we are talking about a massive investment with very limited return.
Id love to hear how the proposed new stand would generate an additional £30m per annum. Sounds very optimistic to me when the whole of the current one doesn't do that.
Having said that, the only source of shareholder loans evidenced to fund an eye watering £150m new stand (which by the way will end up north of £200m) are Harris and Blitzer.
Im quite sure they will not approve any new build unless it is financially viable.
I am watching this space with great interest (and concern).
