It could be akin to the bin dippers wanting TAA to defend.
Don’t work well

Yes, his long balls are excellent and also necessary as we haven't got a creative midfield but I am not so sure about his aerial capabilities (or Guehi's come to that)

Statistics in the Times today show apart from Arsenal we have the worst 'aerial duel' success of all twenty teams of 46.3% (Newcastle are top with 55.9%)

You could argue that our weakness in defending corners could be down to this. It is possible that two of West Ham's three goals might have been avoided by the simple, old fashioned, expedient of having a defender at the far post. I never understood why this has gone out of fashion, especially with us.

I am sure that defending set pieces must be the number one on the agenda at training. At least I hope so.

The sublime 60 yard plus cross field pass to Zaha in the first half and in turn the instant control by him.
His open play marking of Antonio including the ‘throw down’ at the end which Pawson
deemed wasn’t booking worthy.

His overall positive contribution to the team in general.
Well done Joachim!

He mostly had a good match but 100% should have been booked.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

I totally agree that the qualities of both Andersen and Guehi do not include dominance in the aerial duels.

Interesting, as Arsenal are interested in Guehi. Hopefully, this will put them off.

Here's something to make you laugh this morning [Link] someone speculating that maybe Newcastle Arabia could get Andersen for 20m. This rumour has been bouncing around the last few days but seems to have little merit.

I think he's been great for us, but I do think we're his level.

The bit I read says 25m-30m. I reckon we'd consider 35m+ and some add ons. I think Andersen would be keen to play Champions League football.

I'd be worried if he wasn't keen. He's 27 and a move to Newcastle would be a good one for him.

The question is whether they would be willing to pay our asking price given he has 3 years left on his contract.

As much as I like Andersen, I'd rather lose him than Guehi. Clickbait is suggesting that we aren't budging from our Guehi valuation and Levy isn't prepared to meet it.

Dont agree with that one, Andersen is the general of the defense with a superb passing range, almost irreplaceable, Guehi is a good defender, pace and strength, lacks height and isn't very vocal, i think much easier to replace, only my opinion.

I saw his performance in the England match against Malta, admittedly weak oppposion, but Guehi was very good, an excellent CB performance. We need to keep both of them. Add in a couple of good young strikers, and a versatile young back, and I think we could be looking at a top ten finish

As you say Lanzo - opinions.

It's a tough call but my thinking (if we have to lose one of them) is:
1. Guehi is defensively more solid than Andersen
2. He reads the game better and so is not caught out as often as Andersen.
3. Guehi, who will be turning 23 next month has the bulk of his career in front of him, whereas Andersen, having turned 27 in May, has entered his peak years. Consequently, Andersen's transfer value isn't going to increase much (if at all) from how we value him now, whereas Guehi's could increase significantly if he continues to improve.
4. Guehi qualifies as a home grown player whereas Andersen, of course, doesn't.
5. I acknowledge that we would lose Andersen's passing skills but believe that Johnstone has shown that he can pick a pass and that both Guehi and Richards are good enough to develop longer passing skills due to their comfort on the ball which enables them time to assess passing options.
