Granted, but if you just reduce football to business, then it becomes rather unappealing.
It has become too much like Monopoly already.

But the players aren’t as quick or skilful as subbuteo.

All this Zaha arse kissing is truly cringeworthy - face it, he wanted to go and put in a transfer request to achieve that aim. It may be suggest in some corners that is was just a ruse to achieve pay parity with Benteke and I guess as a theory it can't be ruled out. Nevertheless his contract has expired, he's gone, unless Parish really has a deal hidden up his sleeve.
Worthy to note his departure as a Palace player, a couple of successive injuries that meant he wasn't even given a heroic farewell from the fans. All in all a bizarre spectacle, and for those who say we can't do without him, it was pleasing to see both Eze and Olise come into their own in the latter half of the season.
It's telling that no big club came in for him then, and his options appear limited now.

Some people have short memories. Sure we have some decent attacking options now but what about before that? Wilf has lit up many dull games, he’s scored crucial goals, he’s taken countless bad tackles and tied up the opposition. Sure he’s had a moan and has wanted to get out before, and given some of the football we’ve played and some of the muppets he’s had to play with who can blame him?

He’s seen us through the last nine years in the Prem. If you asked fans and players of the other nineteen clubs would they rather face Palace with or without Wilf, what do you think the answer would be? And why do you think Parish wants him so badly?

That was then, this is now.
Currently I doubt they would be that bothered, most teams have found a way to neutralise his talents. Of note is the correlation last season between his injury period and our performances, we actually played better and picked up some crucial results in the period when he was out and we lost when he returned - the summary being that we are a much better balanced team without him these days.
This would be the same Parish who has just extended Ferguson's contract, a 3 year sick note? All I can say is that the contract renewal for Zaha, if going ahead at the figures reported, will definitely lead to dressing room disharmony and is not in the best interest of the club.
To reiterate - he wanted to go, and put in a transfer request to formalise that desire. Now he has the opportunity to achieve his dream, why would anyone want to hold him back from that?

Might be slightly optimistic of me but remember the Leicester game at home. Wilf, Olise, Eze all played and we were electric - In fact, I can't think of a more dominant display without scoring. The shots on goal was a record, was it not?

Whilst it's only a small snippet, with all three firing on all cylinders it would be a nightmare for opposition and this is most likely in Parish's thoughts.
