So, go for Viktor Gyokeres instead. He has the attributes we seek: Young (24), regular international, good hold-up play, has feints and tricks and can shoot! Maybe £40 million but an investment. If we don't sign him it is a given another PL club soon will!

Guess it's just me but I've never been that impressed by Abraham. A lot of noise about a player when he was at a `big` club. Would he be rated so highly if he'd come from a Stoke etc. I put him in the same bracket as Welbeck and Sturridge.

It's irrelevant now, given his injury but he would have been out of our price range. Roma paid some 40m for him (whether euros or sterling I don't know) and I can't imagine them wanting to sell him for much if any less. Everton's so-called £27m was unlikely IMO to have been accepted. IN any event, I think he's overrated.

Whilst I completely understand and therefore agree with this sentiment that is because I view Abraham as a good striker, not a top class one. The question for me would be whether I would take a 'good' striker at Palace? The answer would be 'yes'. The second question is whether or not I think he'd come to Palace/there's any chance of us signing him? My answer there would be 'no'.
Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!! |

As a general rule, I think once someone has had a 'first team' contract for Chelsea, Liverpool, Man Utd etc. then they are no longer a viable target, regardless of how affordable a transfer fee may be.
