I think the delay arose because our first choice was Nketiah but that's apparently not going to happen.

Do we create many chances for an out and out striker?

I was reading a post this morning on social media about Che Adams after Bournemouth had a bid rejected.

The saints fans were not very complimentary about him.

1. a championship striker
2. Can only work off a big target man

They don't want to sell to Bournemouth, seems to be a big rivalry there. But other than that, glad to rid of him for as much as possible.

Doesn't sound promising.

Adams' all round play is considerably better but he's getting you 10 goals, give or take, over 38 full games. He seems like a rich man's Cameron Jerome (a player whose all round play was under appreciated because of how dire he was in front of goal).

(And of course it would be pretty extraordinary for any one striker to play all game over all the games).

Mateta is somewhere between the two. But maybe he'll bloom late and get some confidence in front of goal having had some time to adjust to the prem.

I agree with this completely. OE would finish a lot more chances than Adams and it is a goal scorer we need not another hard working player.

Surely if he's that bad they'd be delighted at one of their rivals taking a donkey off their hands.

Exactly. We've had some players in the past I would learn to drive so I could then drive them to Brighton.

Possibly a good longer term replacement for Jordan Ayew ? JA puts in a great shift but at 32 won’t be around forever.

In a league where defensive midfielders are going for north of £100m, and where Southampton can somehow get £40m to £50m each for two teenage players whose only achievement to date is a spineless relegation, I'd say £10m - £15m for a hard working, ten goal a season forward is good business.

The thing is Southampton have no need to sell him at that price, with 40m for Livremento, 30m incoming for JWP and 50m for Lavia they will have more enough to cope with relegation even if they don't bounce back straightaway.

I'd be surprised if they let him go that cheap.

10 million is all he is worth and they would happily get rid of him. That says a lot about him.

12 to 15 Million would be enough,a few other Premier clubs are showing interest,he plays both wings and as a C/F.
