Worrying Lack of Balance

But the attack, OMG, although both wingers working hard, all championship level. Things will hopefully brighten once Olise is back, but how on earth are we going to score more than the occasional goal until then? I think we look perfectly well balanced to be honest, as someone said above, on our day we can cause many a team problems going forward, but as we all know we just need a goalscorer.

I would go as far as saying we were probably the best balanced team in the bottom half last season, and nothing looks like it’s changed this season. It’s one thing we haven’t got to worry about. We’re organised, competitive and a lot of pundits like the way we look, yes we’ve got our issues, but how we set up and the balance of the team is not one of them.

I think we do have a bit of a problem currently where we're strong through the middle, but weak out wide. Since the wide players are the attacking ones in our system then we are weak up top. We look like we can probably defend but will struggle to score with our current team. I'm sure we can improve a bit but I wouldn't expect Franca and Olise to immediately improve us. We may be quite low scorers up until November/December - then hopefully improve. Edited by ASCPFC (23 Aug 2023 4.10pm)
