Give it another month and I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton are all looking to swap their young, progressive manager for a Roy.

Never really understood the 'classic Roy' performance as a negative, especially when we've kept a clean sheet (and won). He hasn't told them to go out and give the ball away. He's just having to work with a team that has no Olise, Eze, Zaha or viable replacement. When the others aren't totally on it, it won't be pretty. Arguably, in spite of them not showing up, Roy's away performance limited Burnley to nothing clear cut which gives us a chance of winning.

Compare that to the Vieira era at the start of the year when we still couldn't string three passes together despite having Olise and Eze available, and on top of that we leaked goals.

Agree. We’ve tried the young progressive manager route with FDB and PV and how did that work out? Indeed, all the indignation by the media when PV was sacked. None of them now want to admit Roy is a far better manager and well suited to getting results from a squad such as ours, recently missing some of its best players and not full of expensive superstars. Indeed any of them noticed how poorly PV is performing back in France managing Strasbourg - just hovering over the relegation places.

Again, remember classic Pardew ‘entertaining’ football leading to results such as 5-4 loss away at Swansea after leading. And where are Swansea these days after being held up at one time as an example of how ‘football should be played’?

Roy and before him Pulis and Allardyce knows how to set up Palace teams to get results and the points necessary to succeed in the unforgiving Premier league. There are many clubs now languishing in the Championship or League 1 that would swap places even if it means watching football that is pragmatic and effective rather than ‘swashbuckling’ in style

Special shoutout to Jordan Ayew. What a player he is.
What he lacks in ability he makes up for tenfold in his work rate.
The mans a warrior and he gives 100% every game for 90mins and then some.
He played a part in both of our goals today.
I honestly feel like sometimes he carries the team.

Good call. Just because he doesn’t score many goals (last week being a rare exception) he tends to be underrated. But his work rate, close ball control and ability to hold onto the ball and draw fouls are immense. Add to that he very rarely is missing due to injury and it’s not surprising he is one of the first names on the team sheet

The frustrating thing is that we have one of our most talented squads that we have had in the 55 years I've supported them and yet the last 6 performances have been some of the most uninspiring that I have witnessed , I know people will say we have won at Old Trafford and Burnley ,but it is so turgid and honestly totally boring. I see Roy was quick to big Burnley up tonight saying they were far better than their league position, Sorry Roy they are where they deserve to be in the bottom 3 . I really do think we are going through the same cycle as we went through at the end of his last time as manager post lockdown, which means we have three quarters of a season of this to endure

TBF, how many times have we heard in TV interviews from managers of far stronger opponents that we should be much higher in the table, have a strong squad, Selhurst Park is feared on every visit and so on. That's diplomatic and respectful, but it doesn't necessarily reflect the true opinion.

Just back from the game. Poor old Joel, got absolutely rinsed today. Looked better when Clyne came on, and shored things up with Richards coming on towards the end.

Burnley targeted Ward once his weakness was apparent - out of position and too slow on the turn. Joel has been great for the club, but we badly need a proper right back in the January window.

Usual story of playing for 0-0 and then throw Eze on for 20 minutes. Burnley have a wretched defence but we won't challenge them with Hughes and Schlupp as 'creators'

JRS has a bad hamstring injury

I think the only thing lacking with JA is his finishing. On the ball he is top drawer.

I don’t understand all the moaning.

We.were playing away. We absorbed the pressure they were bound to exert and always looked in control to me. We were set up to counter attack and defend well, and did both well. When both Eze and Olise are fully fit we may well see more of the flowing football we enjoyed at the end of last season.

We won. Which is the primary task in every game.

Please stop posting things that I'm forced to agree with.

Gets rinsed every week - still starts though and even more infuriating still Captain..!!

As I said before kick off - must be excellent in training - as his match performances are woeful..!!

But a win is a win - but we won just because they were worse than us - and we were pretty awful..!!

Let’s hope getting Eze fit and Olise back we can start playing some decent football..!!

Well I stand by the comment that we were poor in what was an awful game devoid of any kind of skill.
Next week we are home to a team below us. No excuses for anything else but a win.

Ayew 6th highest goal scorer in Palace PL History with 18, but he'd better watch out as a certain Jeffrey Schlupp has just moved up to joint 7th with 17 goals

Their popularity is well deserved!
