Give it another month and I wouldn't be surprised if Burnley, Sheffield United and Luton are all looking to swap their young, progressive manager for a Roy.

Never really understood the 'classic Roy' performance as a negative, especially when we've kept a clean sheet (and won). He hasn't told them to go out and give the ball away. He's just having to work with a team that has no Olise, Eze, Zaha or viable replacement. When the others aren't totally on it, it won't be pretty. Arguably, in spite of them not showing up, Roy's away performance limited Burnley to nothing clear cut which gives us a chance of winning.

Compare that to the Vieira era at the start of the year when we still couldn't string three passes together despite having Olise and Eze available, and on top of that we leaked goals.

The frustrating thing is that we have one of our most talented squads that we have had in the 55 years I've supported them and yet the last 6 performances have been some of the most uninspiring that I have witnessed , I know people will say we have won at Old Trafford and Burnley ,but it is so turgid and honestly totally boring. I see Roy was quick to big Burnley up tonight saying they were far better than their league position, Sorry Roy they are where they deserve to be in the bottom 3 . I really do think we are going through the same cycle as we went through at the end of his last time as manager post lockdown, which means we have three quarters of a season of this to endure

Usual story of playing for 0-0 and then throw Eze on for 20 minutes. Burnley have a wretched defence but we won't challenge them with Hughes and Schlupp as 'creators'

We.were playing away. We absorbed the pressure they were bound to exert and always looked in control to me. We were set up to counter attack and defend well, and did both well. When both Eze and Olise are fully fit we may well see more of the flowing football we enjoyed at the end of last season.

We won. Which is the primary task in every game.

Good call. Just because he doesn’t score many goals (last week being a rare exception) he tends to be underrated. But his work rate, close ball control and ability to hold onto the ball and draw fouls are immense. Add to that he very rarely is missing due to injury and it’s not surprising he is one of the first names on the team sheet
