Trying to persuade someone so driven; to change their mind when the law says it’s illegal to try to change their mind and if you started trying to convert a Muslim to a different thought process it’s a ‘hate crime’ or some s***e. No difference in the way that works. Do you see ?

As it will take generations to accomplish it has to be a slow process, during which there will also have to be containment and failures. That it is difficult doesn’t mean it cannot be done. It must be done because there is no other realistic alternative.

Sweden hasn’t failed. They just haven’t succeeded yet. They need that time but are probably a few steps closer than us.

The “MAGA” boys are not interested in showing those who oppose them any love or consideration. Nor is what they offer a better idea than those of their opponents. The reverse is true for them. They could be weaned off their idolatry by better arguments made quietly and persistently. As soon as Trump is out of sight and hearing that whole structure will crumble like the house of sand it resembles.

If we get it right then any new arrivals will be left in no doubt of what is expected of them and will be tutored about that by their own community. Sweden will come through any current difficulties. You don’t give up after set backs. You learn and try again.

If you are seeking to conflate the values espoused by Trump and the British way of life, I don’t. You are right. I would never accept them as they stink. No amount of education or persuasion could disguise that. The British way of life might be thought to stink when first encountered by the radicalised but they can be persuaded that the smell is actually pleasant. It’s a battle between ideas. Present good ideas positively and they will win. There may well be some casualties in the battle, but it can be won.
