Sir Ed Davey what a complete cnut

Responsibility Deficit Disorder is a medical condition. Symptoms include inability to be corrected when wrong, false sense of superiority, desire to share personal info no else cares about, general hubris. It's a medical issue rather than pure arrogance.

If you feel strongly about this write to your MP. You can do it online.
I’ve written 3 times , and I won’t stop till the sub postmasters get justice.

I have now sufficient funds to last me the rest of my life. Provided I don't buy anything.

I watched all of this programme, and some subsequent interviews with Alan Bates and some of the postmasters affected, and it appears to be a very accurate reflection of what happened, and without inaccuracies.

It's an absolute scandal the way the post office treated these people, and as far as I'm concerned senior management need to go to prison for what they have done.

They not only caused and covered up what happened, but were judge, jury and executioner in the way they accused the postmasters and wrongly demanded money with menaces from them.

Let’s not forget Fujitsu as well!
Just binged watched yesterday, absolutely appalling and the gall of be woman to then go preaching! unfortunately I do not think any of them will face charges. All gone on to other jobs earning a fortune

Should also be some learning in there for us as we look towards AI for the future- systems are not infallible so we need to take proper care.

Awful. I said whilst watching it, the psychological damage done is probably irreparable and their kids have also suffered. No amount of compensation will make amends but those responsible should face charges.
I could not believe how much of the compensation the lawyers took! Apparently £135m paid out, so far, to victims £150m to lawyers

The power of TV. Radio 4 have beaten this drum for years but with little impact.

Which is precisely why there needs to be legislation to effect a blanket pardoning.

There are constitutional issues of the executive usurping the judiciary and the chance that there may actually be those who defrauded the system (of the sort of number you can count on one hand) but this has to be in the public good.

A process can then be set up to streamline effective compensation for the victims and their families.

As an aside, I can bet that the costs are so high because the Post Office tactically blocked, obfuscated and otherwise hindered every step the claimants made in order to run down their limited resources and force them to bale out through lack of funds.

And while you are lawyer bashing, please note that a significant % of the legal work for the sub post masters over the decades was carried out pro bono.

I believe they renewed their contract last year.

It appears a small percentage were in fact guilty, looking at recent appeals. Shall we exonerate those as well?

If the proof is beyond reasonable doubt then no.

That proof has to be one that stands up to the scrutiny of the criminal standard, thus probably ruling out anything produced by Fujitsu.

The coalition were in power for 5 years and Ed was in charge of postal affairs for 2 (??) of them.

I imagine your attack is equally (and obviously) directed to Labour who commissioned Fujitsu; but, do you also attribute culpability to those Tory ministers with the relevant portfolio for the last 9 years, or are they wholly blameless?

Hint: the level of knowledge of the scandal has greatly increased during the last 8/9 years.

Perhaps you are saying ED is a "complete cnut" in a general sense, and your post just happens to be on this thread?

Then you cannot blanket pardon can you?

This. With bells on. It’s like the Government has been waiting until many of them have died to save on cost. See also blood transfusion scandal
