So you want to pick the team?

You have to think about how fan negativity will affect the players.

Our team thrives on great support home and away.

Well I'd probably do a better job at selection if not the other aspects: but then that is not my career. I'd definitely not have put Olise on and I suspect neither would 19 Premier League managers

Here is your exact quote "The focus now needs to be on how we set up to get results without Olise and Eze.". You seem to have a very short memory

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

If there was anyone out there crazy and willing enough they'd be in by now. Parish has missed the chance, and it's either Hodgson until the end of the season or Paddy as interim manager.
A rock and a hard place...

Would seem the case SNH.

I’m of the hysterical nature now to scream ‘anyone else’ but just what that would bring, gawd knows.

There was an article put up on here before the Bournemouth game (from the Telegraph I think) saying that we were considering sacking Roy but that the Board weren't immediately concerned about relegation.

I think it's unlikely that those sort of noises would have been coming from inside the club without them looking at who to put in or sounding a few people out.

Their problem has never been sacking Roy but who they would get mid season IMO.

The worst thing about this report (if true) is it's use of past tense i.e the club 'considered sacking Hodgson in the wake of the Brighton defeat.'
If that's case it should be present tense as the run of terrible form and performances are not a recent phenomenon.
Surely the club would have been sounding alternatives post Bournemouth?
If not, the club has taken it's eye off the ball.
To keep Hodgson if you're unhappy with him, merely because you can't attract/think of an alternative would be bizarre.

I joked with a mate at half time that Roy would probably bring Olise on. Absolute madness.

At 3-0 down the game is gone. Keep it tight and take you medicine. I know its a derby but losing Olise for any time is relegation time.

In one of his recent interviews, Hodgson said that having both Eze and Olise back enabled him to do some attacking work during training.

Does that mean when they aren't availab le no meaningful attacking work is done?

Both Eze and Olise will be out for what are potentially the most likely games from which we might be able to gain points - namely, Chelsea, Everton, Burnley and Luton (4 of our next 5 games).

It doesn't bode well if Hodgson can't think of a way to put out a team with a modicum of attacking intent without the two stars.

I watched the Arsenal/Liverpool game earlier. Some fiery, fast, attacking play, quality pressing and an obvious enthusiasm from both sides to fight for their team.

As much as I enjoyed it, I much prefer watching Palace although our play is the complete antithesis of what I describe above. That's because Palace is my team, always has been, always will be, regardless of who's manager and who's playing.

Too many negative vibes on here which is playing into the hands of our rivals and their supporters as we witnessed at Brighton.

Forget trying to influence the way things are at our club and get behind them. They need our support now more than ever, not this constant griping.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

The other thread is reporting that the England coach Steve Holland is being linked.
He was a highly regarded coach at Chelsea previously.
The story could have legs as he's not tied to a club at present and would not have a significant impact on his role with England.
