Well the answer to this thread is NO. JT has just said so himself that SP runs the club.

Really, how did you get that from that interview, Parish runs the day to day bits and pieces, But Textor Runs the Club, he picked the Manager, Parish says, yes, Textor says we buy Franca, Parish says yes, it seems to me the Freedman has a very close working relationship with Textor, and if you think Parish does more than running the day to day bits, which is important, and he does it well, you are deluding yourself.

'Tis an interesting read.

There was a lot of 'Americanism' in the way he talks, championing 'capitalism' alongside confirmation of my American prejudices in seemingly being completely adverse to and rejecting anything outside of his own understanding.

Interesting his take on the 'Ultras', quite clearly couldn't care less for them. Again though, I think that is an adversity to any opinion that runs contrary to his own. I don't think it's a bad thing however, the 'Ultras' can sing and dance all they want, I quite like that for the atmosphere in the ground at matches, but beyond that I don't want to see them overstepping their mark.

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

He does remind me of when I used to work for an American company. Comes across as quite arrogant. I have to say the interview did nothing to endear me towards him and I'm not really sure what the purpose of it was? It came across as a power play, like on one hand he was saying Parish is in charge but at the same time making it abundantly clear who has the real money and power. If there was a choice I wouldn't even hesitate in picking Parish over Textor in running the club.

My feelings as well.

I would think most billionaires who have made their money in business are pretty arrogant. You wouldn’t get to that level by taking much notice of what other people think / want.

Speaking purely from an old geezer's point of view, I've always held John Textor in high regard since he first became associated with CPFC.

Having worked closely with American folk in American companies I think they have a sound work ethic and show more corporate business sense (generally) than English business people. He is unusual for an American in that he has a passion for football, or soccer, as he would probably describe our game.

His financial contribution has helped us in the purchase of some fine players and the development of the academy. His huge football network provides a resource to our club that we are beginning to utilise to great effect. He was no doubt instrumental in signing our new manager.

I read his interview with the BBC and, for me anyway, it simply reinforced my view that he is a valuable part of the team.

Whether he calls the shots doesn't matter. What matters is that his aim is true.

Dad and I watched games standing on the muddy slope of the Holmesdale Road end. He cheered and I rattled.

Ditto.

It's not easy to find the motive for the interview other than to try to counter some of the bad rumours. In that way he goes some way to succeeding. That said the longer Steve Parish is there the better. I'd rather support a club run by a lifelong fan than a money man. But then I've supported Palace for 60 years and I know I'd be hopeless at running an Isthmian League club let alone an EPL club!!!

Always remembering walking from the Holmesdale to the Whitehorse end at half time!

An interesting read. Aspects of it I completely agree with but his comments right at the end about how wonderful American sport is does sort of confirm my long held scepticism about American owners and their fundamental lack of understanding of what makes football special.

Times are changing Canterbury. Football as you know continues to change dramatically. We have to embrace the changes to move with it. Overall, we are making a very good job of it.
Maybe having three American professional sports investors with very deep pockets all sitting as minority board members will help us moving forwards. Who knows. Bear in mind, it was only six weeks ago that Eagle Holdings were apparently trying to sell their shares in Palace. How one month can change things.
Texter, Harris and Blitzer have all had success in various business ventures historically. Texter is also the majority shareholder of Eagle Football Holdings whose board have an impressive array of high net worth members. Texter is also an offspring of the extended du Pont family.
One thing sort of sounds clear from the interview is that they are all well into Palace.
Bringing in Glasner which was obviously driven by Texter, should hopefully maximise our summer trading position.
Led by Dougie (who Texter rates highly), we have already brought in some stellar gems largely using Texter's money. The big test this summer will be our ability to trade out some of those gems to keep our FFP position sound, while finding more hidden gems.
Great to hear from the horses mouth Texter's insights.
Please keep this sort of feed coming. Really helps understand the positive direction of our board at large. Long may it continue.

that's not how I read it at all. He speaks of a 4-way vote, and there have been a couple of instances where they disagreed on players. Let's face it Parish hasn't had the best track record on managers, so if Textor did throw his weight around for Glasner, can you blame him? We've been crying out for a new approach for a long time, it didn't work with FDB and Vieira, so something was amiss with the execution of the approach - that's when smart people accept other people's thinking and advice from the board - it's what it's there for.

I too am more understanding of Textor after the read and (if taken at face value as others have said) don't have a bad opinion of Textor.

Did you read the article? SP runs the club. Why would JT say he does. If he doesn’t.

It bothers me that he thinks it a plus that he took player resources from Palace and his other clubs to prop up his Belgium club.

He also made a lot about pooling scouting resources but how does that work. Lyon are in big debt trouble. Suppose the scouting team uncover a young player perfect for Palace who will have a big re-sale value. Could Textor say no Lyon will sign him as a way to reduce the debt on re-sale?

We have yet to see palace sign a player from Lyon.

The Textor model maybe good for Textor I have my doubts that it is good for Palace.

Certainly not against progress mate but I just have a deep rooted suspicion of the motivations of American owners, particularly given their involvement in the attempted Super League coup.

Football is structured so inherently differently from US Sports that I believe any attempt to implement such a thing would fundamentally ruin the sport and I'm not sure they understand that.

It's brilliant that they are shrewd businessmen but football is so intrinsically enshrined in our culture and history that, as a sport, it needs to be run in the best interest of the fans and the game, rather than from a commercial perspective.

It's already bad enough with FIFA, UEFA and the Premier League doing that but at least they just about leave the foundations of football intact. Not so sure that would be the case if Americans had a greater say in its future.
