As much as I would love to think /believe this -I think that ship well & truly sailed when the TV money arrived & its not coming back any time soon.

Certainly not against progress mate but I just have a deep rooted suspicion of the motivations of American owners, particularly given their involvement in the attempted Super League coup.

Football is structured so inherently differently from US Sports that I believe any attempt to implement such a thing would fundamentally ruin the sport and I'm not sure they understand that.

It's brilliant that they are shrewd businessmen but football is so intrinsically enshrined in our culture and history that, as a sport, it needs to be run in the best interest of the fans and the game, rather than from a commercial perspective.

It's already bad enough with FIFA, UEFA and the Premier League doing that but at least they just about leave the foundations of football intact. Not so sure that would be the case if Americans had a greater say in its future.

I largely agree and did qualify it by mentioning the ruling bodies. However, when you look at the Super League attempt, what they're trying to do to the Champions League format, the idea of the 39th game etc, there's definitely still lots of room for things to become far, far worse if it's not fought against.

Did you read the article? SP runs the club. Why would JT say he does. If he doesn’t.

He only runs the day to day running of the club, as Textor said, but he doesn't make any major changes, Textor does, Manager, signings, he even said he deals with Freedman, i am not saying this is good or bad, but that's what happens.

You read and interpret your version. What major changes has Textor made on his own? He clearly said its a 4 man vote on major decisions.

Say what you like about Textor but he is right about FFP.

It simply keeps the big clubs at the top and stops smaller clubs from spending.
I don't doubt that the top clubs would remain so, but the gap would be smaller. What needs to be regulated is the leaching of money by agents and wages.
The majority of cash should be spent on facilities and transfers.

Imagine if we could spend some of Textor's money.

Exactly my thinking. Aul Lanzo making up his own story to suit himself.

Cobblers, the 3 other voters are not going to be told what to do by Mr 10%, he takes 2 million out a year, the others put money in, the money he put in originally was 2 million, he hasn't done bad, i am not saying Textor is better or worse, but he can get 51% of shares together for an EGM, no other Director can do that, but at the moment he doesn't want too.

Nice words..

It could be his way of being more vocal and present with the media, maybe gearing up for a change of guard? Who knows.. it's obvious he cares, it's obvious he has put a lot of money in and he's drawn his line in the sand with the ultra's, which I quite like.. they are no different to you or I and at the end of the day, they can be replaced - sure the atmosphere may be different but the tickets will still sell and ice goes on, they are not part of the board...

Speaking purely from an old geezer's point of view, I've always held John Textor in high regard since he first became associated with CPFC.

Having worked closely with American folk in American companies I think they have a sound work ethic and show more corporate business sense (generally) than English business people. He is unusual for an American in that he has a passion for football, or soccer, as he would probably describe our game.

His financial contribution has helped us in the purchase of some fine players and the development of the academy. His huge football network provides a resource to our club that we are beginning to utilise to great effect. He was no doubt instrumental in signing our new manager.

I read his interview with the BBC and, for me anyway, it simply reinforced my view that he is a valuable part of the team.

Whether he calls the shots doesn't matter. What matters is that his aim is true.

Looks like he's now having a go at FFP, - can't really argue with his take on it...

I have tried to attach the directors remuneration from the last published accounts - hopefully it will show -

Basically it says 2021 / 22 SP took just over 800,000 in salary & in 2022/ 23 he took 1,700,000 but most of it was a bonus payment for previous years which he will likely invest back into the club -

Also I think the key from the below is that Textor could push for an EGM, so far he hasent ( whether he does at the end of the season we will have to wait & see)

Also in the interview he says that all of the directors are willing to invest more but are prevented by profit & sustainability, so that kind of debunks the myth that H & B arent interested.

It seems that a lot of people have preconceived ideas about Textor and due to their tunnel vision the article has done nothing to change their view.

My over riding thought is that without Textor's money we would probably be in the Championship now
