Building cases again? We've heard that one before.

So who do you blame?

It might be unfortunate but to successfully prosecute you need evidence. Without a decent case the CPS won’t even sanction a trial.

Are there enough police officers? Are we prepared to fund more? Are there willing recruits? How long does the training cost?

We could decide to detain suspected violent drug dealers without trial, check their immigration status and deport those who failed. I would support this but I bet there would be an outcry from elsewhere.

I don't have any answers, any more than I would for a medical problem, but why should I when there are experts who don't have any answers either.
What I do know after over 30 years living in Newham and Barking is that whatever the statistics say the reality is often very different.

The reality in any one area will rarely match the average. Pulling up the worst whilst not impacting the best too much is the best outcome but it’s easy to write. Much more difficult to achieve. Even by experts, who have all the political hurdles to also negotiate.

It's many areas of London, and probably every city in the country, and those who live there aren't interested in any averages which claim things aren't too bad. They are.

That was, I believe, the reason the advert was withdrawn.

Advertising unhealthy food has become a no-go area, although we could argue for a long time over what is unhealthy. My own opinion is that we consume far too much salt, which is the unseen killer, via heart disease, whilst being obsessed with such things as eating "natural" or "organic" foodstuffs which are largely meaningless terms.

That's progress though. Progress is good.

There are pockets of deprivation. Even here in Cornwall. That though isn't anything new. Some places get gentrified whilst others regress. It's a continually changing picture.

Communities coming together to make things better seems to be the most successful way to achieve progress. There are some wonderful, unselfish people who do unseen work helping others.

The national diet has not progressed.
Obesity is at epidemic levels. It mostly down to take away food. Very calorie dense.

Chinese, Indian, Kebab, Pizza, KFC. Another symptom of immigration and globalism.

Everybody knows that and some remember when there were fewer gentrified areas in London. There were also less stabbings and drug dealers.
Communities coming together is an unlikely prospect.

I was though talking about advertising and not the consumption of take away food, something that is rarely, if ever, to be found in my own home.

It certainly grew strongly in the pandemic, has not declined, is much bigger in cities, particularly in London, and is definitely unhealthier than preparing food at home.

That said it is still only a relatively small part of overall consumption at around £20 billion pa of the total food and drink market of £315 billion.

Re your last point, Christiania (an original squat/hippy community in Denmark) that eventually got legal status when they bought the complex they were occupying, has just kicked out the drug dealers who were ruining the place. Strange, seeing how drug culture is hippy culture, but there you go! It’s on the Sky news website but I haven’t got the skills to link it.

hats off to palace, they were always gonna be louder, and hate to say it but they were impressive ALL bouncing and singing.

Yes, even "wonderful, unselfish people who do unseen work helping others" have to eventually respect reality.
