I think Munoz was perhaps more of a bargain and it seemed no one was aware of him. Apparently, the fee might have been as low as £6 million. Wharton is undoubtedly a real talent and in a few years he could be playing at the top, but let's not get too carried away, he's not the finished article yet. My daughter likes to point out that he looks like Sam Johnstone's kid!

Two very good assertions

Now Zaha's got a bit of green grass ahead of him here... and finds Ambrose... not a bad effort!!!!

Wharton continues the trend set by Ebs and Olise of Championship players coming good at Palace. When you look at our main transfer rivals West Ham they have had quite a few failures.

These are intangibles but if we are neck and neck with another PL club the success of these players might just tip the balance in our favour.

One of our more promising investments. He is getting fitter as well, as are most of our squad with the advent of Glasner.

Working with Olise and Eze plus Doucoure our goal chances should improve greatly - if we can hold on to them.

Munoz also a good buy but I have reservations about his Van Arnault tendencies - great as an attacking full back but can be caught out on the break.

All in all proves that you can get bargains in the January window.

Our next need is to get Mateta to be more prolific as he misses far more than he scores.

I believe he is in double figures now for the season? if he can add 3-4 before the end of the season then that would be a superb season from him.

We have not had a striker get to double goals since that netek season when he got 17? I think Ayew might have gotten 9 or maybe 10 the 2019/20 season?

It could easily have been 2 more for him at Anfield...

Lerma is without doubt our bargain of the season. A free transfer, plays several positions with ease and never seems to have a bad game.
Wharton cost £18m plus has a lot of potential, but in the Premier Cole at Chelsea is regarded as bargain of the season at £40m.

Absolutely agree with that. Wharton and Lerma are very good buys for us but Cole Palmer at Chelsea looks to be the best value buy. Ironic at c£40m he looks a bargain compared to Fernandez, Mudryk, Caicedo, Curcarella all bought for far higher prices.

Would agree with all of that. Probably have to give a nod to Ross Barkley on a free too, and Sheff Utd picking up Brereton Diaz on loan has gone really well for them.

Now Lerma is a bargain, painters right!!

But anyone who cost 20 or 40 million can’t be regarded as bargains, very good signings and good players, but even in todays market, not bargains

In the same way I paid £23,000 for my car, a good car, I really like it, but definitely not a bargain

He has the best shot to goal conversion rate of any of our players and his shots are on target 74% of the time.

Compare that to the top PL goal scorers(as per the Beeb's 'tops scorer list' and:
1. His shot to goal conversion rate is better than Haaland, Watkins, Salah, Bowen etc., and behind only, Palmer, Wood and Hwang.
2. His shot accuracy is better than every single one of them.

In other words, he's doing fine.

In answer to the OP's question. Not the bargain of the season. We paid full price IMO given his limited Championship experience. However, he has surprised by settling so quickly and effectively. If he continues to progress we will make a tidy profit on him when it's time for him to move on.

For me, Lerma is the bargain of the season. Yes, I know there'll have been a signing-on fee, but where would we have been without him?

What I will say is that at long last we have got our recruitment policy sorted and we can all see the positive results! I think if you add up today's value of our very first team you will surprised at the value!! Plus now we have a positive coach!!
