Cucking and Curl you guys took the words right outta my mouth! This guy isn't known for being a humanist! Malta YOU are BADLY missing the point! The money is bloodstained. There's no way that Jordan should even consider selling to him. I have this horrid feeling that Chelski are going to be in for a nasty shock in the months to come when the true provenance of Mr. Abramovich's riches becomes known.

I hear you Malta mate but we really really dont need that kind of money. SJ and ID have the ability to bring something very very special without having to resort to being funded by a murderer. The mafia are billionares why don't we get them in and help them with their image? We will be finished as a viable and respected football club, fact. I'm not digging you out but surely you can see this is a very bad idea regardless of how much money he has, think long term!

If this man has any involvement with CPFC, we will be undoubtably selling our soul. However in the cold light of day, unless we attract significant investment, we are never going to achieve more than mid table obscurity in the prem with the occasional appearance in a cup final. While this would delight all of us at this point, we would soon get frustrated a few years down the line if that was the absolute maximum potential of CPFC. Now while i'm certainly not advocating us allowing ourseleves to be bought by this character, if this 'takeover' was to happen, Palace would find itself in a position where we could make some serious waves in the prem, since we would have unparalelled spending power. Who knows what could be achieved in a couple of years. However my personal view is that while we would be a major financial player in football, I couldn't stand to see my club lose its soul by selling to a dictator or a son of a dictator. It wouldn't exactly help our reputation.

back into administration, playing cola league footie with a clear conscience and here's another £1000 to bail the club out again. I am, like many, a true Palace fan and would rather be relegated than be tainted by blood money. No thanks its only football at the end of the day!

I'd rather the club work their way up than buy their way up anyway. If i was a Chelski fan, i'd feel the clubs progress in the past 15 years would have been a total waste. Ignoring the fact Gadafi is interested in buying the club, last season would seem pretty meaningless if we bought our way up to the top this season. And money doesnt mean direct success anyway.

I can't think for a moment that Jordan would seriously consider this, he has always said that he will do whatever is best for the good of the club, and surely this would be bad for Palace. His comments in the guardian however suggest that there is something in this story, and that it is not just paper talk. Edited by Jay_Palace (17 Jul 2004 2:20am)
