Anyone who sticks up for Pikeys/ Gypoes/ Tinkers obviously has never encountered them. They are a bunch of thieving, lazy, untrustworthy, dirty b******s.

They will steal from anyone. They will steal anything that is not tied down. The one's that pose as traders are con merchants. If you object to them trying to scam you, they will threaten to come round with their huge family and kill you.
They spend there entire lives moving their caravans from one illegal dwelling to another. Costing thousands in removing them and clearing up all the s*** they leave behind.
They don't care about anything that doesn't affect themselves.
I'm sure there are some decent 'Travellers' around, it's just I've never met any.

This is why 'Pikey' makes a good insult, especially for Charlton / Gillingham fans.

Thought this would come up eventually, I was going to do something similar a while back with the cringeworthy savaging of Spurs as 'yids' which should be starred out if it's not.

I had a bit of trouble with the word 'pikey' myself as I wasn't sure what it refers to - to that extent it would appear that most of the posters aren't sure either - in the fact that some use it to refer to gypsies or travellers, and some to chavs. That is where all the problems begin - what is intended, and what is received.

I certainly beleive that racism is utterly abhorrent - and that's why classifing clubs fans on such lines breeds angst becasue of the difference in interpretation.
