Dating back to 1934. If the American Football team the Washington(DC) Redskins Won their game the week before the election, the party in power won the election. This has a 100% success rate thus far. Well, last week they lost so by that logic, Kerry will be the next president. Hey it's the best I can do....

lol - yeah - i heard that when i was watching the Jets v Dolphins game, lets hope its wrong.

I just think Bush is the lesser of two evils.

Looks like it's going to be Bush. Currently has 254 electoral college votes (needing 270 to win) and Ohio (which has 20 votes) is looking like a Bush win (2,771,814 vs 2,624,201) with 99% of precincts reported.

However, there is still uncertainty over Ohio, because they've used a system of provisional ballots which don't have to be counted till 15 November

I am utterly miserable this morning as it looks like Bush has it.

The US is now plunged into four more years of idiotic economic policies, tax cuts for the rich, rising healthcare costs etc etc.

The world is now facing four more years of bloodshed and terror. The US had a chance to turn the corner but blew it. Our soldiers will cointinue to die (and do in greater numbers) with no end in sight to the so called 'war on terror' (oh, except Iraq were nothing to do with 9/11)

London should brace itself for an attack where innocent people will die.

Thanks America

How many of you pro-Kerry people actually know anything about him? Are you supporting him simply because he's standing against George Bush? The fact that you're all prepared to support an unknown quantity simply because you don't like the present incumbent makes me VERY glad that none of you have the vote in America. Very disturbing.

It doesn't matter if Kerry wins the other three states left to declare - if Bush wins Ohio then he's won. End of story (or should that be world).

And Cucking, yes I am supporting Kerry mainly because he's not George Bush (though I am generally more pro-Democrat anyway). I don't believe in going with the devil you know, when that devil is the man who has caused thousands of deaths in Iraq, put the USA (and therefore the world) on the brink of economic meltdown), but supported all his mates in big business by cutting their taxes. He is (apparently) the first president in years to oversee an increase in unemployment. Kerry surely couldn't do a worse job.

Pretty much what other presidents have done, then. Kerry would do exactly the same.

And people voted Blair in back in 1997 not because they wanted a Labour government specifically but because they were 'fed up' with the Tories.

Quite a few people are regretting that now.

Yes, Cucking, I do know about Kerry and his policies.

I regard him as the best chance of America and the world building a strong but sensible co-alition to try to move things froward in terms of internalional terrorism. Obviously, I am most interested in his international policies because I am not American.

However, I regard him as the best choice for America in any event. I also do not want a fundamentalist (note the 'mentalist' part of that word) christian in charge of the world's most powerful country. Any more than I'd want a fundamentalist Muslim in charge of such a powerful counrty. Bush's econmic policies have been a disaster, the deficit is growing and the US is suffering from growing unemployment. I also favour Kerry's approach to abortion, same sex marriage, the death penalty, stem cell research and the war on terror.

The world needs a more sober, internationalist outlook coming form the Whitehouse and Kerry offered this. What we don't need is a moronic Cowboy spoiling for a fight to protect the interest of his daddy's rich buddys.

It is shaping up to be a truly deppressing day...

But they're not regretting it as much as they would if the Conservatives had stayed in power. God knows what the country would have been like by now.
