Slugs, I aint saying that the media doesn't raise general awareness, that's what the media's for, what I'm saying is, the vast majority of people will take on board the subject matter and make their own minds up, sure, some will have a knee-jerk reaction, but most will calmly make their minds up. For instance, my town is swamped with so-called asylum seekers, all male, always in gangs of half a dozen or so, all carrying knives, all walking around better dressed than I am, all with mobile phones better and newer than mine, driving around in cars that I can't afford to run and I just heard on the radio that another 100,000 will enter this country within the next year and in hearing that, I'm concerned, no media hype, no shocking newspaper headlines, no politically slanted piece on the TV news, just one cold hard fact, 100,000 more on their way! Great! Now you might say that if I hadn't of heard that little snippet on the radio I wouldn't be concerned, but I say, I'm already concerned, the news on the radio has simply compounded that concern, anyway, it's my right to know how fast self-serving politicians are sending my country down the pan! Would you prefer the media were stopped from telling us what's happening to our country? We could have a system where the media tell us nothing of the truth, were the media is only allowed to portray the one view and all they are allowed to tell us is that everything is just fine, it's called Communism, it doesn't work!

Many new immigrants settle in Croydon, but never come to Selhurst Park. Why? probably because of views like oldchap, Saxon etc (and maybe the expense).
Imagine being a new immigrant (casually expressing a liking for football) and being handed a free ticket or two for the next match (against Ipswich - won't be a sellout) by friendly Palace-supporting civil servant. Result: Eternally grateful future Palace supporter and maybe an impressed Croydon Council (huge new palace support) will build us a brand new 40,000 capacity ground on brown field site in East Croydon or Purley Way. Result! Result!
