Just wanted to say that I thought Farage was excellent last night.

I actually thought Gove was better.

The question about the 5 EU presidents was very well put.

Its bizarre, i've never really been a big fan of the politicians the LEAVE camp has (bar Kate Hoey & Dan Hannan) yet they really seem to be holding their own against the constant barrage of scaremongering from REMAIN. Doesn't seem to matter who REMAIN wheel out, whether its Benedict Cumberbatch, Obama, Danny Boyle, Jeremy Clarkson (yup...), John Major (*s******s*). They can't seem to tip the polls much past the 50/50 mark.

I genuinely don't know Hoof. Scouts honour.

It's the forced austerity on Greece giving away their public services for peanuts and forced privatisation that sits uneasily with me. I'd like to know more about what I shall call the european 'Grand Project' and whether it will impose even more neo-liberal austerity measures on EU members.

As for immigration, I don't think that we could complete any trade deals without there being some freedom of movement aspects written into the deals.

I do hope these things do serve as a reminder of the capitalist machine it is.

I'm not so sure this is a gross distortion of the truth...most Brexiteers I know and have heard on the media are more than happy for people to come over...its just that they (the Brexiteers) want a way of controlling the numbers.

Quite. Its the exploitation of these people by corporate interests, as a means of undermining wage demands that I think is the key issue. Migration to fill vacancies when you have a shortage, is perfectly acceptable. Importing labour to reduce wages isn't. And this is a key issue towards integration and stability in migration in the past - Migration was used and controlled to fill demand for employees typically in lower paid jobs, due to an actual shortage of workers.

At least Churchill did and helped do something about it.

Sorry, Winston. These kids today.

Yup,

Winston did help do something.... he got on the blower to USA once the rest of Europe capitulated in WWII and between us we got the job done, with a bit of help from the Soviets after the Siberian winter weakened Hitler's advance East.

You stated "History, learn from it" earlier in the thread.

I've learned that in times of trouble you cannot rely on the French and Germans, but the USA are always on hand if you need a friend.

I think that the fear factor is receding as people have time to think about the core issues.

Why should Europeans be allowed to come here en-masse without any skills, not being able to speak english, no job to go to and no money for rent?

Our commonwealth friends from all over the globe are prohibited from being allowed to settle here even when they more than match the criteria I have outlined above.

Leaving the EU allows us to determine who we want to live and work here ourselves. These may include the brightest and best EU citizens but hopefully not the Romanian Gypsy pickpocket gangs, or Lithuanian sex workers with their pimps.

Nobody is putting a hurdle in the way of anyone.

So you would rather have tens of thousands more Asians and Africans here than Europeans if the former have better skills and qualifications?

Blimey, Hoof. Are you sure? That's not the Hoof I recognise.

Why do you constantly challenge points made by 'Brexiteers' but not by 'Remainiacs' then? There is honestly no shame in coming out in favour of remain, just as Jeremy Corbyn did...

According to some, WW2 was unnecessary since Germany never originally intended to invade Britain and ultimately wanted to form an alliance with Britain.

Don't stop there, open the door to North & South America too. Lots of very clever, talented people and qualified people out there we could certainly have use for. No little European attitude found here.

Because the points made by the brexiteers on here are to me mired in conjecture and quite frankly some of them border on the xenophobic.

Money's on Charlotte Church chiming in next.

Clarkson one was a parody on the hypothetical positives though.

Although IMO it would be sensible to favour those of similar cultures to the majority of Britons, the key factor is numbers.
