Would, in fact that's why I was using the old 'child' decoy. Had to finish up quick when I heard the gun go off I can tell you.

In your opinion. In many cases you are probably right but when you are talking about a religious loon who thinks he is a prophet, strips naked and runs to taunt lions in their own enclosure, cnut deserves to die imo.

Worse still, he survives and now will be even more deluded. "God saved me" etc etc.

Anyone who has ever owned a dog (or any pet most likely) will understand how special animals are. They are loyal with unconditional love. That's more than I can say about 99% of human beings I've ever met.

I'm sorry but it's a sick man, a human who needs help not to be mauled to death, I think it's incredibly fu*cked up that people have such a disregard for human life, yet weep over a couple of zoo animals. I love animals, big dog owner, but if I had to make a choice between an animal and a human, I would always pick human unless they were a knob and I was aware they were a knob.

They are animals for f*cks sake. We are talking about a human life I cannot and will not understand the callousness of some people in this matter.

Well yes, the man in question clearly was mentally ill, and a known schizophrenic, who had been monumentally failed by the psychiatric care system.

That said, your argument presumes that human life has more value, it doesn't argue the case.

Humans are animals. Obviously we favour our own species over others, that's a biological imperative though, not an ethical argument.

I have no qualms about saying a human life is inherently more valuable. I believe that whole heartedly. We are Capable of higher functions, quite how someone could argue an animal life has equal merit baffles me!

Whether you value human life more or not there is arguably too many humans on the planet. The same can not be said of certain animals, this being one of them.

Our higher functions should tell us this but religion and poverty, in the main, cause humans to procreate far too much.

Different functions. Its important to remember that its humans who believe that they're higher functions - and those functions are also exhibited by all primates and mammals to an extent. The thing that really separates us is the capacity for language, which is unique to a human evolutionary development, in the position of the voice box.

The human brain arguably lacks specialisation of a degree seen in many other animals. Which requires a lot of neural functionality. For example a dogs capacity for smell or a cats capacity for hearing, is a much higher function than that of humans.

I think we're arrogant in believing ourselves superior to any other species, and its this kind of hubris that ultimately undermines humanity.

And it happens again............

How ferkin stupid are that kids parents?

Florida is renowned for Alligators.

Letting a 2 year old kid paddle in water or even be close to the edge of a lake/lagoon is more or less inviting the Alligator to have him.

Sad, tragic, but easily avoidable.

Can't blame the kid, he didn't know the dangers, but the parents did.

No signs stating the Alligators were there, just ones saying dont swim.

I don't really blame the parents only takes a few seconds for a kid to run off if you dont keep an eye on them, its happened to us all.

What i find utterly stupid is Disney, a place predominately populated with young kids has a family beach for kids and families to play on that goes into a lagoon that they know has Alligators in it, surprised something hasn't happened sooner, Truly tragic.

You don't really need them in Florida, and certainly not if you are an American.

Having a beach around the lagoon is stupid though, as is killing 5 alligators afterwards to see if they'd eaten him.

This is a ghastly story, especially if you are a parent.
I don't know the exact details but I have often been staggered by how some parents seem to have no concept of danger where their kids are concerned.
Letting them runabout next to main roads or climbing on things or whatever, it just smacks of laziness or indifference.

When my kids were little I was always paranoid about keeping a close eye one them and keeping them close by. I just don't understand any other attitude.

There's no signs in Australia about crocodiles, or spiders under the toilet seats either.

You've gotta be pretty naive to let your kid paddle in water unattended anywhere.
