Being in the right place and the right time is underrated and something Gayle pretty much never did. After that you've got to beat the defender to the ball or get the better of him.

Sakho can also out jump defenders in the box where Gayle cannot or does not. It's all very well Gayle leaping higher than a defender onto one of Delaney's targeted hoofs, but what happened after? Into the keeper's hands/into the possession of the opposition.

I am in no doubt that Sakho is a better striker than Gayle. Feed Sakho in the mixer and he will score some goals. Feed Gayle and he won't even be there, just like he wasn't before.

Spot on. Also can't we offer them a swap? Our s*** Sako for their good Sakho.

You make this sound as though you know it for sure? My understanding was that West Ham were not prepared to match the wages.

I have a few Spamers mates and they are spitting feathers about us taking Tomkins and now Sahko. I keep telling them these two players are obviously ambitious and want to come to a bigger club.

You can guess their responses. ))

The comments about the possibility of us signing Diafra Sakho from West Ham amaze. Our fans always have this instant opinion that a player is either 'great' or 'crap' !!! Do people actually research his goal record for other clubs? In France, he played for Metz and got 47 goals in 124 games. Pretty good. His first season at West Ham he scored 12 goals in 26 games. His first season in the Premier. Last season it was a bit stop start for him because of injuries. Also he is very hard working and is known for his assists as well as goals.

Now lots of our fans reckon he is rubbish!!! I remember the same thing being said about Andy Johnson when he was supposed to be the makeweight for Clinton Morrison in that swap deal with Birmingham. Apparently he was 'rubbish'!!! again!!! Funny how he became AJ the Legend!!!!

Wally Alert. Take time out, read other threads, learn to spell ?

Jackson.. Wan Bissaka.... Sansom.. Nicholas.. Cannon.. Guehi.... Zaha... Thomas.. Byrne... Holton.. Rogers.. that should do it..

A younger, fitter, pacier Glenn Murray then?

I expect the majority of fans saying we shouldn't sign him are still tearful about Murray leaving.

He is probably pretty close ability wise to Wickham, maybe slightly better, and that's why this is a pretty smart move! Having two similar level good players is probably better for competition than having one 'star striker' ands backup. Both players won't feel nailed on and both players will feel they have a healthy chance of game time if they perform. Smart move I think.

If their ability is the same, then what's the point of signing someone who is similar ability. We must improve the squad with quality. Therefore we should sign edin dzeko from roma.

Andy Johnson Magic, He wears a Magic Hat
When he Sees the match ball, he says he having that
He scores one with left foot, he scores one with his right
And When his playing Brighton, He scores all f***ING Night!

What's the motivation for a player to play well if he believes that he will be second fiddle. If Dzeko was out of form you have another player who can't come in and do a capable job because he is not motivated and hasn't played enough. As I said I don't believe they are the same, I believe Sakho is a slight upgrade so it improves the squad and ain't aims healthy competition which is vital. We saw last season the damage of having one player for a position who is far better than the others, it meant we were screwed when we had injuries as we didn't have capable or in form replacements.
