I'd imagined this meant smashing a bottle and ramming it into someone's face. One article I read referred to him having hit someone on the head with a bottle. Neither action is in anyway defensible - but different levels of offence.

There plenty of big 21 year olds who go out happily without thumping each other. He shouldn't be drinking period.

I was discussing this with someone yesterday and they suggested that if you smash a bottle and ram it in someones face, that's regarded as a "glassing". To bottle someone is to hit someone on the head with a bottle. Either way, a pretty scummy thing to do.

This is the problem with the way that these kids are built up at the academy's - they are integrated into schools together and led to believe that they are better than everyone there that isn't in the academy and that they can get away with murder. I don't know Innis at all, have never met him and don't know if this is the case - for all we know, he could have been pushed to his limits on every occasion (I doubt it, but again, to reach any conclusion without the facts is complete speculation and I also fail to see how using a bottle can be justified regardless) but I know for a fact that a lot of the kids that get this treatment, if they haven't got the right network around them keeping them grounded, will end up as unbalanced adults.

Upbringings can often bring hidden demons out that a lot of us wouldn't even have the first idea how to deal with, it's never an excuse but people are always so quick to judge instead of recognising people's accomplishments and the s*** they've overcome to achieve them. Like I've said it's not what people think about this particular incident or the ones that have just come to light that bothers me, he's got responsibilities. I just thought I should step in and defend someone I know personally very well when someone else is making statements and spreading bulls*** with no substance. But forget that you all clearly know the kid more than me and your all holier than thou without a single skeleton in your closets.

For what it's worth, I actually also agree with this wholeheartedly, there's certain maturing and life lessons that usually only comes with real life.
