Losing is all right if we have a go, but our surrender (1st half) vs West Ham and Liverpool, adding 5 wins in 32 give me sleepless nights....

Losing is not all right but if you see steady improvement in players and team progression then you can live with it. All we see now is good players becoming average and a team that is bullied in games.

The ups and downs of Palace have left me older than my years

As a previous poster said - why obsess over the last 4 games - it is the last 30 + games overall that is the problem.
Some players have changed but we are still not good as a Team and therein lies the problem.
The players have the talent but it needs to be managed and directed and it is not happening and hasn't happened for a while.
Yes - of course we expected Liverpool to win against us - they are on fire but we didn't help ourselves.
Leicester away - I expected a draw and the stats suggest that is what should have happened - it didn't.
One point from West Brom, Bournemouth and West Ham at home - one wretched point - I expected at least five or six from those games.
We don't look like a team who knows what they are doing or what their plan is.
Some of our transfers over the AP's tenure beggar belief in my opinion.
After the Liverpool game AP spoke abpout the Ref who shouldn't have been allowed to ref the game after last season.
He spoke about Townsend wanting to play on the right but we have Wilf there - did he not work that out (like many of us did) when he bought him and sold our main left sided player - Bolasie (who was sick of playing centre forward)!
He spoke about us not being a team who let in goals from set pieces (other than the previous 6 this season - total now 8 in 10 games).
He didn't talk much about the actual game - I wonder what planet he is on some times.
The opportunity is there for it to be so different and so much better but we need the Team to be managed and for there to be a game plan.
I know he doesn't have every player he wants - not many teams do.
But this is effectively his Team now so there are no excuses.
But for the FA Cup last season he would be gone.
We are in poor form and I for one hope that changes on Saturday because in an ideal world AP will make it work and we will flourish.
A few more losses and the knives will really be out I'm afraid.
Football is a harsh and sometimes unfair world but it is results that matter and AP has been given a lot of time so far.
I do not advocate sacking Managers for the sake of it - it is pointless sometimes - but subject to where we are come the end of the month it could be open season in South East London

It's a pretty easy argument isn't it? The stat is largely irrelevant because the vast majority of that was last season.

We've lost three in a row yes, but of those only West Ham was a really poor result and we showed enough in the second half there to make me think that we could easily have got the draw or even won had things broken our way a little bit.

After that we've lost away at the champions (playing well) and been beaten by the team that's joint top of the league and has won away at Arsenal and Chelsea already this season.

Before that we were unbeaten in five and won three of those.

Employee of the month is a good example of how someone can be both a winner and a loser at the same time.

Why is the line drawn arbitrarily at that point? We have played better since the start of this season so why is the 20 games before that more important? If that is, why draw the line there, why not look at games before that?

Some players have changed but we are still not good as a Team and therein lies the problem.
Please read the post, it will explain we look to be actually performing better than last season

The players have the talent but it needs to be managed and directed and it is not happening and hasn't happened for a while.
Doesn't mean anything

Yes - of course we expected Liverpool to win against us - they are on fire but we didn't help ourselves.

Ever heard of something called luck/ chance in football? You dont always get what you deserve - doesn't mean its necessarily the manager's fault

One point from West Brom, Bournemouth and West Ham at home - one wretched point - I expected at least five or six from those games.
Score those 2 pens and we get at least 4 from those games - Pardew doesn't take the pens.

We don't look like a team who knows what they are doing or what their plan is.
Disagree entirely, we clearly have a gameplan and look a lot more structured going forward than last year when we had Bolasie down the middle

Some of our transfers over the AP's tenure beggar belief in my opinion.
No single manager ever has got 100% of transfers right. He's brought some fantastic players in

After the Liverpool game AP spoke abpout the Ref who shouldn't have been allowed to ref the game after last season.
Agree this was stupid, but his post match comments dont have a direct impact on the teams performance

He spoke about Townsend wanting to play on the right but we have Wilf there - did he not work that out (like many of us did) when he bought him and sold our main left sided player - Bolasie (who was sick of playing centre forward)!
This is hilarious, most fans have been j*zzing themselves over how Townsend was a great signing, could play left or right, is better than Wilf or Bolasie. Get a grip. Pardew clearly wanted to keep Bolasie, it wasn't up to him. This is whats called twisting history to suit your agenda.

He spoke about us not being a team who let in goals from set pieces (other than the previous 6 this season - total now 8 in 10 games).
This was a fib, maybe he was talking about his record as a whole at Palace, which has actually been pretty good

He didn't talk much about the actual game - I wonder what planet he is on some times.
Again - dont really care about press conferences

The opportunity is there for it to be so different and so much better but we need the Team to be managed and for there to be a game plan.
I know he doesn't have every player he wants - not many teams do.

We are 13th in the league, but you are putting forward an opinion on sacking him based on the assumption we will continue his poor run. Based on how we have played this season, we will pick up points. I'm sure we will go on another bad run again this season because we are a lower-mid table club!! And that's what those teams do. But when we do go on another run, I'll save my responses here so I can copy paste them to future messages

Exactly. It's not a temporary loss of form is it.

Relegation form is what it is.

Yep. agree with these 2 posts 100%.

U would like to know what manager in the football league has ever kept their job with that sort of form! I'm guessing not!

I wouldn't bother mate, as people are conveniently choosing to ignore that very relevant fact! And then accuse people who bring it up as being party poopers!
Yep, stick your head in the sands people ... as that'll work eh! LOL

So you wouldn't say then that continuing where we left off after spending millions is a problem then ?

I actually think AP could come in your house on Christmas day and piss on your kids and you'd ask for more.

Second half of last season we got 11 points in 19 games, this season we have the same number of points in roughly half the games - is that continuing where we left off? Seems to be an improvement to me, but I must 'have my head in the sand'.

Stats don't seem to work do they? During our best spells under Pulis & Pardew the stats were saying "we were over achieving". Now we're doing crap and don't look like winning a game the stats are saying " we're doing ok". Logical conclusion the stats are wrong or are measuring the wrong things.

Truth of the matter is we only statistically play well when the opposition let us because we are losing the game. If we come back the oppos just raise their games 10% or so until we are behind again.

We are really struggling, Pards needs to find a formula that works and some players need to put in more effort.

We'll find it soon enough and I wouldn't call it panicking if we get someone proven or very highly rated anyway. If that does happen then some will realise that it's not only Alan Pardew who can keep us in a respectable position in season 4.

It's the manager, his system, his ability to motivate his players, his tactics etc that are to blame. We are on a downward trajectory and have had a few false dawns in 2016 where it looks like it may change but it never lasts long and we end up back in a losing / clueless streak.

I know we're a mid-table team at best but these players - especially now - are better than our results lead us to believe ... so the buck does stop with Pardew currently!
