Hello all,

Looking at the 3 relegated teams, there could be an opportunity to improve our squad with some shrewd buys.

Do you think any of the following players could improve our squad depth or even be starters.


Middlesbrough
-------------
Adama Traore, Negredo, Stewart Downing, George Friend

Hull
----
Tom Huddlestone, Ahmed Elmohamady, Harry Maguire, Sam Clucas

Sunderland
----------
Jermain Defoe, Lamine Kone, Jan Kirchhoff, Adnan Januzaj, Jordan Pickford, Sebastian Larsson

Thoughts?

I don't think we should be targeting players from poor teams any more. We need better players, rather than squad players.
Traore is woeful and barely played for Villa or Boro. Downing us too old. Negrado is an okay back up player.
Defoe is decent but he'll be a year older. Pickford is a yes but he'll go to a bigger club.
As for Hull players...I don't rate any of them baring Huddlestone.

to be fair would probably have a look at george friend, good player. Pickford, defoe and kone would all be good buys I think.

Maguire at Hull is highly regarded.

Pickford from Hull


Januzaj is on loan, he is dog s***, remember when Moyes thought he was a better player than Wilf

We already have Connor Wickham as backup to Benteke

Some good shouts, there are many reasons why good players don't perform in poor teams, we've seen it at palace where players are played out of position or they are not motivated to play for the manager etc...

My personal picks from the bunch would be Pickford, Kone, Friend, Huddlestone, Negredo or Defoe.

I think these players would get game time and improve our squad

I thought he was disappointing on Sunday. It's probably not the sort of game to make a judgement on him and I haven't seen him play before but I wasn't at all impressed, he looked over weight as well.
