I know why I eat a certain percentage of meat. My nutritionist says my body can't properly process fruits and vegetables. There is no one absolutely right way to eat, except not to do so in excess.

My ex-wife, who was until recently a partial vegetarian, was told by her doctors she must resume eating meat due to an iron deficiency. A number of years ago she had a thyroid condition. I know she doesn't like the taste of meat but it has become necessary. Her doctors practice at the world famous Columbia University Medical Center in New York. I sincerely doubt anyone here has the equivalent credentials.

Each person is different an certain foods which are considered "good" may not be for certain people. I am one of them. Good for most people is not good for me. Since I want to see my daughter graduate from college I will continue to eat the foods that professionals have said are good for me.

I haven't read all of this thread but I'm surprised to see that VeganPower has been red carded as despite provocation from others all of his responses have been unfailingly polite.

Is it now a forum offence not to eat meat or have I missed something?

That's a great shame but it doesn't surprise me as this can be a very unfriendly forum to anyone who doesn't fit in with the pack mentality.

Someone else started a quite reasonable thread in Palace Talk today and got roundly abused for his trouble yet you never see a mod step in and tell the idiots to behave

He started off with reasoned debate but gradually started to troll. I was perfectly happy to debate with him on this thread and continued this morning. On the other thread I still maintain what I said last night.

As for hate, as per your link I don't think you come out of it that well yourself. The language you use (and yes others too) when it comes to politics can be pretty inflammatory particularly when you talk about Tories.

Veganpower was no troll.. find me something that he said that wasn't true... it's just that the majority of people on the HOL are carnivores and if anyone says anything, as he did, against eating meat, people will generally react against it. There is nothing that he said that deserved red carding. Funnily enough he used no offensive language in spite of his ideas being ridiculed. He simply stood up to others without being disrespectful. In fact he was one of the most articulate and entertaining posters we've had on here in ages. That red card should be rescinded unless anyone can give a good reason as to why he got it because I see no evidence for him being shown the card
