While I like to see us bring some players in. As parish has stated you don't win points in the transfermarket. Didn't take you long for you to put a negative spin on the season already.

Little of what I've seen in the first 3 friendlies on TV makes me convinced we are going to be competitive. As many have pointed out, how we perform when the PL starts will give us more information. The art of ball possession and taking it forward is an alien concept for many of our team and are skills not quickly learnt. We still lack a really competent and confident Fabrigas type midfielder and do not seem to have many options up front other than crosses and free kicks to Benteke. And yes Willo, Huddersfield is the kind of team we have slipped on banana-skins to in the past!

All the games in this league are difficult,Far harder for Huddersfield to blend in 7 new players, if they do,than us switching to 343.

Huddersfield has been a bogey-team for us before, do not take anything for granted when we kick off August 12th. Meeting newcomers in their first game after promotion are never easy (home & away) - there might be some "thinking we are a better team than them" mentality. Whatever style, as long as we get the 3 points I'm happy-happy.

I would much rather we didn't play a promoted team on the first day. Best time is probably in the middle of the season. Plus we have recently been awful against teams that we 'should' beat. Nevertheless, I think we will be decent this season so long as we get those one or two players over the line by the end of the window. When posters, though, talk about players we 'need' and then reel off half a team, you are definitely going to be disappointed. There is no way we are going to sign, like, 6 more players. It is worth noting that Parish does seem to play his cards close to his chest, and too many on here interpret no leaks/new stories as meaning nothing is happening. That isn't the case I am certain. Another defender is the priority (interpret as RB/CB as you will: depends on the particular player/system). Then: GK and striker. Assuming Wickham is fit, Benteke and Wickham + youngster isn't a bad strike force, but we could do with more depth than that.
