Once again, its opinions isn't it? but you're absolutely right, when someone's opinion differs to yours, the mature thing to do is laugh at it. Like I said before, opinions differ, try and respect others. We should have spent 30 million on a striker to sit on the bench just in case.

And to be fair, offering what we have as options isn't dreaming mate, especially when asked about it, it's answering a question. Not once did I say that they are as good as Benteke.

See this is the kind of immature stuff we see all the time. We had a choice of Harry Kane or Wilbraham and nothing in between. Either a pant wetter or red and blue spectacle wearer.

1 striker is what pub sides do. Excuse it all you like. It's amateur and very risky. How did 1 left back go?

I presumed the thread was a joke. The club is a shambles. It took a month to replace Allardyce. The new manager is a polar opposite from the previous one, yet we only have 4 pre-season friendlies to try and completely change the style of the team. Now we manage just two permanent signings in the window - an unproven Dutch youngster and a player who was great for us last season but is nowhere near being able to play for us.

We have failed to score in 7 of our last 8 PL games yet failed to bring in another striker, and even more bizarrely, Anderson, who was the striker on the bench last week, is allowed to go on loan to Swindon. So we now have Benteke and Lapado (and of course Wickham if he is ever fit again).

Very good post which I am sure will resonate with quite a few on here.

I heard his interview on 5 live a couple of weeks ago and he didnt sound his usual confident self.

I thought he seemed a bit down.

In the interviews on Sky this morning he looks a bit stressed.

I think the pressure of knowing he has made a mistake in appointing FDB might be getting to him.

Interesting article about the (vague) possibility that Parish and his advertising partner might get back into the industry that contained the wonderful quote:-

Parish who made an estimated £80m from the sale, is now chairman and a shareholder in Premier League football club Crystal Palace noted for, among other things, a particularly active managerial revolving door

I think the sudden departure of Sam has produced a dent. I remember him on HOL radio around that time and seemed to be putting on a brave face and was very doubtful about a Sakho deal. Hopefully his signing can give everybody a little boost including SP.

Not exactly sure what was immature about my post, care to embellish? Was it because I implied your response wasn't mature? Maybe you should have just gone with "your mum" or "I know you are but what am I"

But i'll answer anyway because I'm a masochist - I would say our other options are not Wilbrahim, they are better just not to Benteke standard. We tried to sign other options but they didn't happen and as supporters we aren't privy as to why, when they didn't happen we took the view of going with what we had rather than signing the next Marange. Like it or not, it isn't one striker, we have options, albeit not great ones and Wickham will be back from injury eventually.

Oh and for the record, just because I'm not a glass half empty doomsayer, doesn't mean I have red and blue glasses on, i'm an absolute realist who prefers to support his club. I never said that you were a pant wetter and actually agree that some of your points are valid, our opinions on the impact and possible solutions just differ

Well done on getting Sakho you saved us a hole 4 Million when we could have had him from the start of the season and may be had some points on the board.

Pulis thought he could leave and rip us off. Fortunately, the club took him to court and got our money back, are you saying that we should have left it, as he did such a good job?

Holloway left because he realised that the job was beyond him and good on him for being honest enough to recognise it.

But you want to blame Parish for that. At least get it right before you post rubbish.

There are a few things That the board have got wrong but Pulis and Holloway aren't on that list..

Also, no player will guarantee you points, if we had signed Sakho before now, how would he have got us points when he couldn't have even played due to his long term injury.

Please explain...

A striker who moves about would be a plus! How come other sides manage to sign strikers? Burnley, who we face next week, have 5 now, all of acceptable standard. We have one - and he has only managed to score in one of his last eight games. We were shocking at the end of last season (apart from the Hull game) and with Sakho still a long way from being fit I don't hold much hope of getting much from the next two games and we know what follows them.

Someone in the CPFC2010 group said only a year or two after taking over, that they didn't expect or want fans to continually praise them for saving the club, as their own expectations were much more than merely existing. (am paraphrasing)
The trouble with such a high profile business is that all decisions are open to scrutiny, without people outside of the business knowing the rationale for those decisions.
I don't expect any statements from the club regarding any of the decisions / actions they take. That is their business, and they seem to be doing an OK job at the moment.

So all we need now is: a new keeper, strengthen the defence, some inspiration in midfield, a striker (or two) ,.....and possibly a new manager sometime soon, to bind them all together.

At least it keeps the internet busy

Indeed I have mentioned this before. They have strikers they can bring on from the bench to try and get them back into the game if need be, who do we have if Benteke is ineffective or injured ?

Look at some of the other teams options.OK they might not all be top quality PL strikers but at least the clubs have options :
Swansea : Bony,Ayew,Abraham
Brighton : Hemed,Murray,Baldock,Murphy,Brown
Newcastle : Joselu,Mitrovic,Gayle,Perez
Southampton : Gabbiadini,Austin,Long
W.Ham : Hernandez,Ayew,Sakho
Bournemouth : Defoe,Afobe,King,Wilson,Mousset.

Worrying times.

He is a good chairman who has always done the best he can. But he needs to admit that there are major weaknesses in the club's infrastructure, particularly regarding recruitment. Putting aside the failure to sign another striker, it's very strange that the attempt to transition to a new style of play has been attempted when we don't have the money for a major overhaul. Doesn't smack of good long-term planning to me.

Niasse 'didn't happen' because we fvcked up the admin.

Our options now are a couple of players who aren't strikers and a child. Great. Before messing it up we had a couple of options and that's after 3-6 months knowing about this issue.

Let's hope a decent free agent is available and wants to come. If not, and Benteke gets injured, we're screwed, regardless of Wickham back in bl33din January.
