What a loads of bollocks & surely beating Dull Hull at the end of last season was a much bigger match?!

I agree it is an important match but even if we lose we are nowhere near getting relegated when there are still 87 points to play for.

I can't understand people's over reaction saying we will be relegated just because we would have 3 points from 9 games if we do lose.Obviously it wouldn't be ideal winning 1 game in 9 but don't Palace fans remember our 1st season back in the Prem when Pullis saved us?!

Some people on here either have the IQ of a goldfish or addicted to hard drugs!

This is quite possibly one of the stupidest threads I have ever seen. It’s just another game, no different from any of the others. There’s not 3 games to go, there’s 30! Get a grip.

Hmm yeah.. We were probably all expecting 3 points v Burnley at home last season after the Arsenal win, and also Huddersfield at the start of this season. And countless against other teams we consider lesser than us, whom we ended up losing to convincingly.

Look, we can probably beat Newcastle, but a draw isn't the end of the world. Newcastle have played pretty well this season only losing once. I'd sooner we just play well too even if that means committing less than we did against Chelsea, as they will be far less open, as has been the case pretty much in every match we've expected to win and promptly lost. As long as we're tight and disciplined, and play well, that's all I want to see. The points will come, and a point is fine at that.

yes but what if we go down by two points, then not having won this game would have relegated us, esp if it was Newcastle who stayed up at our expense. And yes I am addicted to hard goldfish.

We have to start picking up points consistently soon as, on current statistics we're set to finish the season on 15 points. Will you still be pitching the same line after 18 games, with only six points, because there's still 60 points to play for? We already need more than a point a game to stay up and every lost games increases that requirement. What did or didn't happen four seasons ago is entirely irrelevant and there is no Pulis (or Allardyce) this time and, even if there were, if our current overall form were to continue until Christmas, no one would be able to save us.

Agree with all your points, but it isn't our biggest game in years. The result will not determine our destination.
There is a long way to go, we aren't the weakest team in the league, out of our first 8 games we have played all the top 4 teams, 3 away, the others haven't.

And (sorry to repeat myself again) we are only 3 points short of the points we got from the same 8 games last season, assuming you read "Huddersfield" for "Sunderland".

You, Dave and I are in agreement I think - all is not lost by a long way, but we have to keep up a run of good (or perhaps just reasonably good) form.

A very hard game for us and if we get a point it will be an excellent result.

Let's hope it's not a case of 'After the Lord Mayor's show'.

No, we aren't playing them until 28 November, Willo.

Beating Watford was probably our biggest game in recent years. Without this win (and the one before against Brighton) who knows where we would be now.

Stockport away in 2001 was probably our biggest game. Without Freedman's goal (or if the ref had noticed the Hopkin handball) we would have been down and again who knows where we would be now.

Relegation, whichever season it comes in, wont be the end of the world just the start of a new chapter. A bit corny but I've seen previous relegations and wont lose sleep over the next one.

It's 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark... and we're wearing sunglasses.

while i agree with you in principle, i still would like to see Selhurst doubled in size.
