So if a lorry load of drugs for the NHS turns up at the border why we would we not let it through?'

Perhaps the "fear" is that it won't turn up because it gets stuck behind a load of other lorries on the other side of the channel?

It's clear we shall lose ground for many years and that lost ground will almost certainly never be recovered. We may get back to how we were in half a generation, but not where we could have been.

This is in order to chase a fallacious dream. We are in a global world, the economics will control us if the politics don't.

Take a look at the discussion on Socialism in One Country, I am sure you have read your Preobrazhensky. The world comes and gets you in the end.

Good point. Globalisation is already here, is highly unlikely to be stopped, and therefore is an inevitability. Also, the financial and the social are intrinsically linked. Saying that economic negatives will simply result in positives elsewhere seems to be a complete nonsense.

Also, I've got a spare ten minutes and need to flex my cod philosophy, so here's a side note to the more prolific leave posters on here.

If you're already retired, part-time or living in the powerhouses of rural England in a desperate attempt to escape the foreigns and snuggle yourselves into the warmth of Olde England. Just remember that you're dying embers that have been kicked away from the roaring fire, attempting to cling on to something, anything, before you die out with little more than a few thousand words of dross and negativity on a forum to show for it.

I do find it commendable that you're still so passionate despite the fact your message has no significant audience. It only exists as some form of personal justification railing against the reality of your rapidly diminishing existence. You're on the fringes for a reason. You're no longer, or have never been in positions of influence, value or social necessity for a reason. You had your chance.

Simply whiling away the hours plummeting into your own freshly dug rabbit holes. Not doing anything of value can get a little boring. But you take solace in the fact that you can sit back in your armchairs and watch it all unfold, spewing out your bitterness trying to hold on to some form of relevance for your lives before you fade out into nothingness, leaving people that actually have a stake in the game to live to deal with the true effects of this mess. Let's hope the long term is positive, because the short to medium term is going to be a s***show that we're going to have to deal with.

If you really had something of value left to do or were passionate about your point of view you wouldn't be on this forum 24/7.

Did you know? 98.0000001% of people are morons.

Sovereignty and less immigrants would appear to be the answer to that question. I have difficulty eating either of them and neither are they accepted as legal tender but then brexiteers seem to want a smaller economy with more opportunities for the indigenous population.

Not entirely sure how a smaller economy is gonna help us change the incontinent pants for a generation of geriatric former Daily Express readers but then logic has become a bit of a casualty of late.

Like UKIP?

If you believe in the integrity of politicians then you are a fool x 10.

Surely the one thing both sides can agree upon is that the entire country has been let down by its democratically elected politicians?

I'm a remainer but I'd be happy with crashing out (that is the accepted term for no deal I think). If remain are right and we end up with civil disobedience and sterling worth nothing then we might see a much needed change in the political system. And if the project fear brigade are right then I'll have to eat humble pie.

Either of these two alternatives are ok with me.

I think some people said that about Hitler.

For all your rhetoric, you see nothing. The future is for our children and their children. My children.
What we do now impacts on them. The powers that be care not one iota for any of us. We must do what we can to protect ourselves. Any ideas about a harmonious human race moving forward together is delusionary. It is Yoko Ono loopy. The EU is a mechanism of control.

You are happy to be a sheep ready for slaughter.

A fair point.

My thoughts are that if we do crash out it would make sense for customs to focus on keeping the traffic flowing (status quo). The French could of course be obstructive but they would be hurting their European partners trying to export to the UK. Hopefully both sides would agree to take a lax view of import and export rules until such time as they could be implemented in a sensible manner.

Other than the fact he asked if I was female and gay spouses refer to each other as their husbands 10/10 post.

Fancy trying again?

but why would you want to? You want to vote so you can fill out forms and get visas where you currently don't have to?

Hopefully the various vested interests will soon realise that two can play at that game and as the UK is the EU's second largest single export market for goods they are not going to want to upset the applecart
