Agree with all of that apart from FDB. He was an irresponsible car crash.

But at the time Rudi (like the build up and his appointment announcement) what were your feelings towards him?

This sort of attitude got Sunderland to where they are today. I have never heard of a business that will accept poor results today for what you did in the past. The past is history and cannot be changed. However the future can!. The revenue question it is all lost if we go down and frankly what we have had, has not been spent very wisely, some would argue wasted by a chairman who has not got a clue on how to run a PL Club!

Because it's that easy, probably only Tottenham, Leicester and Watford who have significantly improved in the same time frame that parish has been at our club. Hardly done a bad job.

Your defence of Reideweld is misplaced. He is a professional footballer and very well paid, the least Palace are entitled to expect is that he is fit and at playing weight recommended. He may of had one good game, but is obviously not consistent, like say McArthur.

Coming from Ajax doesn't automatically mean your good, Dutch football has been on the decline for years.

Not all players can step up to a higher level and in a foreign country. This is the case with Sorloth, there have been many players come from aboard and sink without a trace as they cant produce. We know about Sorloth as he is here, I expect every club has their own version, but we don't hear about them.

Jairo looked in shape to my eyes as I watched the match today and looked good on the ball.

You cannot claim Jairo Riedewald is not consistent, that is totally unfair. He has not been given a run of games. Comparing him to McArthur is the classic apples to oranges. He was brought in and saw his manager fired within a month and hasn’t been given a real chance in the first team.

If you believe Puncheon should be on our bench ahead of him, I say good luck to you matey

Coming from Ajax generally means you can play a bit, despite the decline of Dutch football, Painter.

Speaking of Dutch football where Riedewald and Sanchez formed one of the most highly touted pairings in European football, Sorloth failed in that league.

You don’t know if Riedewald can or cannot be successful at this club as any player in the world needs a run of games, especially in a new country and especially if the guy who signed you gets immediately fired.

Trump lost. Badly. Hahahahahahaha.

I and just one or two others were against hiring FDB. I was accused of using hindsight after he was sacked and this was disproved by posts I made when we were hiring and after we hired him, plus others, including some of Parish’s best fans that I was arguing with at the time who remember it too.

After he was signed I did go along with the only feeling allowed on here which was it was going to be marvellous. If you remember, any reputable sports journalist thought it would fail.

Relative to the club's history our last few years have been a massive success, not got many complaints but this squad should be comfortably mid table with an outside chance of 7th. That should be our expectations this season and hodgson is failing.

Maybe at the start of the season you could say this but not without a striker or the performances of Ajew. I agree Hodgson is underperforming Though.

Exactly. Willo how can you say this when SP on numerous occasions has used FFP/constraints as a reason for not buying the players we need

If Riedewald had been given a proper shake maybe he would give a sh&t and wouldnt be overweight.

He came through at Ajax - they have a world class youth system and generate a lot of very good footballers.

When he got a shot he was the best player for us against Man City last year.

I am not watching the training sessions, but that doesnt mean that RH always makes the best decisions when he picks the team.

The handling of Sorloth has been very poor aswell, he was guaranteed to fail with 30 mins here and there. If you are going to say a player is good enough to sign, then give him a fair chance.

Sometimes you have to take a chance and trust a player's pedigree. Riedewald came through at one of the truly elite acamedies in world football, and he is not good enough to warm our bench ahead of Puncheon?

I totally agree. You don't progress with the Ajax system if you are sh**. JR has not been given a fair chance at Palace and was unfairly judged on one game (the farce that was Huddersfield) From Lewington's comments I think they are trying to offload him, if they do, I predict in a couple of years that decision will come back and bite us y on the rear

the bigger picture is that we are failing and it looks to only be a matter of time until the inevitable happens if things don't change.

Sure, 6 years in the prem looks good, but the content is that the club has struggled to keep its place, spending over the odds to retain it's position, losing money that would instead go into the clubs infrastructure - the youth set up, training ground, scouting.

Being in the premiership, regardless of who we play against, the rewards for that league allows you to build the club and you become part of that league and you progress with it.

Anyone can see that we have taken the money, tried to save it, invested it in the wrong players, back tracked and spent it all and looked around us wondering where it's all gone.

It's like the kid who got 5k for xmas, he spent his money on tarting up an old bmw, it then needs servicing and more money and he's then skint and taking out loans and one day he will have no car or money - when instead he was advised to get a basic ford fiesta and save the rest.

I dunno, how else are some deluded fans going to realise the way we are going is down.

Sorry, how is that the bigger picture?

He isn't overweight. H doesn't like the tight fitting shirts that everyone else wears so he wears a baggy shirt that makes him look fatter than he really is.

This was all discussed at length last year

Absolutely.

Yesterday he looked fit & mobile plus his range of passing was far beyond most of our starting 11.

The way him & Sanchez were played at Ajax is somewhere between a CB & a DM which could be the link we need between defence & attack - just a shame our default tactics would not allow this.

Will this be five? It's gonna be five! It IS five!

I wouldn't have Puncheon anywhere near the team, if I had a choice, he isn't up to it without his mate Pardew.

I am not anti Reideweld, but something isn't right about him. Maybe the rigours of Premier football aren't for him and just cant produce at that level on a consistent basis. There is an interesting interview with Jach on his page on HOL, saying the step up from where he came from was too much.
