It is very rare for anyone here to ever pause for a moment and say that anything I have said has made them reconsider their position. All that ever comes back are entrenched positions defended with self righteous indignation.

It's not that I don't understand the arguments being put. They have been thrust down my throat so often I have had much more than my fill of them.

It's simply that I believe them to be fundamentally flawed because they are almost all based upon a misunderstanding of how our democratic system actually works.

I am far from alone in what I believe to be true. Many, indeed most at the moment, MPs agree with me as do a large number of our fellow citizens.

The difference is that this forum, for some weird reason, has a much higher number from the group I believe to be wrong in it's membership.

Why would be a very interesting thing to find out. It just isn't normal. Is it the way it was originally set up that attracted such people? Is it that football supporters who use forums tend to come from that section of society? I really don't know

Or maybe you’re wrong.

Reference please.

I don't disbelieve you, although it would not have been Soros himself but one of the foundations he funds. He deliberately keeps himself at arms length from their decision making.

Supported Palace for over 69 years since the age of 7 and have seen all the ups and downs and will probably see many more ups and downs before I go up to the big football club in the sky.

It is the Express so it needs to be taken with a pinch of salt. But the truth is that the UK and the EU do need a relationship post-October 31st, assuming we have left. If you ignore the hyperbole around 'no-deal' it is clear that a lot of progress has been made with plenty of evidence of arrangements in place to keep trade flowing at the main choke points such as Calais.

And in terms of the Irish border, and I appreciate that for Remainers maths are not their strongest point but even they should be able to get their heads around these numbers, 85% of Irelands exports have to cross the NI border compared to less than 0.5% of ours going the other way. And the UK has always been absolutely clear that it will not place any obstacles in the way of that carrying on so why would the EU want to stop that?

Life carries on come November 1st when hopefully we leave with no deal and it will be much smoother than Remainers hope.

Already covered in previous replies.

This was a donation from one of the Soros foundations, who act independently under their own management. It was also to a group that Mrs Miller ceased being a member of in 2017. Her court action is unconnected to that group.

It's neither. It's not news at all, it's obvious.

It is not, and never has been, the case that any no deal exit would mean that negotiations would then cease.

It's just that the disruption and set backs would cause harm and damage us all that could be avoided if we make the arrangements in advance.

Avoidable self harm is irresponsible.

I trust no one would argue that the political balance on this forum leans heavily to the right.

Funny how John Major is playing a large part in this case. The same John Major that suspended Parliament in 1997, for a longer period (allegedly to avoid a scandal involving Tory MPs and bribes). If this is not blatant hypocrisy I do not know what is, although I am sure some on here will lecture me otherwise

Didn't Major call a GE at the same time? And was soundly beaten by Tony Blair.

Served him right then.

Seems a trite reason to be able to prorogate, sleaze.

I don't think the PM should have such powers.

PMs should become like the monarch, pointless figure-heads engaged in PR only.

What a load of b0llacks as usual from you. I think you should take your medication or more if you already have done so. I have never known a "know it all" like you and I think you need to wind your neck in a few turns and learn that you come out with so much cr@p that you need help. A LOT of help.
STOP putting so much self centred sh1t on here and learn that other people DO have legitimate points of view even if they do not agree with your weird points of view.

It's certainly a valid argument that I am certain the Justices will consider. Every case though needs to be seen in context and decided on it's merit or we would be for ever stuck in a time loop.

I think in 1997, rightly or wrongly at the time. Parliament would not have objected to the prorogation. That they now do, and that Johnson's reasons have been definitively proven, via the release of correspondence available to the Court, to be to frustrate Parliamentary oversight, means that this context is markedly different.

We will see in the fullness of time what these 11 most senior legal brains decide. It will be epic!!!

Do you really have that much trouble with the truth?

For what I wrote is not just an opinion. It's the truth. All of it is out in plain sight in the public domain. Mrs Miller has no connection anymore to "Best for Britain" who are not involved in her court case.
