He didn't change the style. Leeds where just open at the back, can't defend and have very poor finishing up front.

Thats why they got thrashed by Leicester too. Thats why they have the most goals conceded in the league.

Bamford has missed the most "big chances" this season, with 6 opportunities squandered.

It was a good performance, but let's put everything in context.

All 100% right.

No problem. These things can get a bit emotive.

To summarise this thread:
Roy in - where we get performances like Man Utd and Leeds
Roy out - where we get performances like Chelsea and Brighton.
If only life were so simple!

If it was wins (or 4 points) against united and Chelsea he should clearly stay.

If it was losses (or 2 points) against Brighton and Leeds he should go.

We are in a middle ground.

Roy out, but only when we have clearly lined up someone better and not a panic appointment. Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche, or indeed Chris Wilder are not the answer by a very long stretch.

Personally I would like to see Paddy McCarthy developed into the role within 1 - 2 years time, with Roy continuing until Paddy is ready to step up.

Roy may well have already decided this is his last season. Don’t forget he only signed one year renewal.

Roy needs to be replaced before or at the end of this season - in which case, by whom?

Or, he will be offered, and may accept a further contract.

Either way, SP needs to be lining a replacement in the medium to longer term. Paddy gets my vote, first under Roy, and then instead of, once Roy leaves the post. If Paddy can learn from Roy how he organises defensively before he departs, then it will be a good apprenticeship.

People have been saying for months to try Meyer, Reidewald, Camarasa, Sorloth etc whilst his supporters have been saying that we have a weak squad. There were claims we needed wholesale changes, when really all it seems we needed was one or two extra players and better use of the squad we already had.

Turns out the Reidewald finally got a break where there was no one else to play in the left back position and after a bit of a run people realise that the 20 year old Dutch international we signed 3 years ago was a decent player.

His supporters also say that we can't judge him on one match against say Chelsea or Brighton or Wolves, yet claim he should be totally vindicated for the last half of last season based on the last half of last season.

You're arguments are hypocritical and fundamental flawed.

I've constantly said he's an average manager who ran out of ideas. He's finally had an idea to play Reidewald and 4-4-2 and he's now on par with whats expected of him. I think the real test is over the next 3 games.

The best time to get rid of him would have been the tail end of last season, so an incoming manager would have a transfer window to prepare.

At the moment I wouldnt sack him, but we have to think of succession planning and if a decent manager is available we should get them in.

Every time we beat a newly promoted side you are straight on here saying what a great manager he is. Bit sad really.

Its fairly obvious, you don't like Roy. You keep posting a lot of nonsense, as if you know what your talking about. The facts are all against you, he is the most successful manager for Palace in recent times.
You said Pulis and Alardyce left as they were employable, what are they doing now?

We should have an idea about the club’s and Roy’s intentions by around January .
This is certainly where discussions were initiated before he signed his last extension.
He clearly enjoys the role of manager and has previously indicated that he would only retire if he no longer felt capable for health or other reasons.
I was disillusioned with him last season where it all seemed to have gone stale.
This season he seems at present to be more flexible.
I didn’t believe he would start Jairo over the likes of Mcarthur and Luka , but he has done.
I’m hopeful he’ll give Eze more of a run as I feared he might go the way of Meyer.
If ithis trend continues with players selected on merit, rather than just being Roy’s favourites, this surely points to a more flexible approach as opposed to the rigidity he has employed in the past.

Replacing Roy will be tricky.

Dyche may be the safe option (and he's my choice) if our goal is to continue the way we are. But if we want to evolve what we do, the incoming manager has a huge task. Especially if we keep the same personnel.

If you want to live in a world full of kindness, respect and love, try to show these qualities.
