It would appear there are at least two dialogues going on.
One, for consumption by the media, is bland and non commital.
The other is the reality that is happening behind the scenes which we can only speculate upon.
My guess is that certain pieces of a jigsaw have to fall into place for us to get Gallagher for another year.
If for example Chelsea sign De Jong or another midfield player then Gallagher could be surplus to Chelsea's requirements this season.
Better for Chelsea to have a motivated Gallagher playing regular first team football, and possibly enhancing his value with Palace, rather than cutting a frustrated figure with occasional cameo sub appearances at Chelsea.

I'm not sure how this article adds to the Gallagher debate. It tells us he's left the club, but we knew that already.

I agree we do have a decent squad, however we don’t have a good enough starting 11. Some of those that started against Arsenal are better for bringing on during a game. The balance in midfield is the major problem and until we strengthen our first 11 we will struggle in my opinion.

Not a good enough 11 for what, Winning premiership, champions league, top 10, staying up?

I think we have a decent squad. Decent back ups in almost every position.

I'd like to have a proper 2nd left back. Another centre mid. Another forward.

If we don't get those players, we still have a good squad. I don't agree that we don't have attacking midfielders...Eze and Schluup should be regarded as attacking midfield players.

I Think one more player a DM thug, we have Ebiowei, Plange, Richards and Killian Phillips. unless we get rid of Jairo, Luka and Tomkins off the wage bill i think we will overstretch ourselves financially.

None of whom are proven in the Premier League and none better than already in the first team.
How do you have an in depth knowledge of the clubs finances, we have just saved £5m a year in wages.

And Luka 85k Jairo 65k and Tomkins 55k, makes another 205k a week available, and the question i asked was first 11 not good enough for what.

Even with the 5m saved the wage bill is still well over 80% of the total income

Watching this Chelsea game, the only position he can play is Mason Mount's, and he is not going to dislodge him. If he wants to go to the world Cup he needs to play, he will definitely in my opinion be going out on loan again.

I honestly don't see where else he can go on loan apart from Palace, won player of the season, so why would you go to the spam or Newcastle or Villa? Not like they are going to win anything.

I think he's coming back, start of September he's back with us.

Very hard to see where he would fit in at Chelsea other than the bench. Of course injuries could change things. Chelsea are looking very good. Just don’t think Gallagher quite cuts it there. We are his obvious choice. Newcastle? If he wants to move north. He knows us and vice versa. Que sera.
