I respectfully disagree. People could have said exactly the same thing about Gary O'Neil when he left Bournemouth in that he didn't set the Prem alight but he has done a decent job in his second Prem managerial role at Wolves.

Cooper I think is a really good coach and could do a good job at Palace. Got Forest up after a couple of decades, good attacking style of football too with good use of attacking on the wings. Think he's a little unlucky to have been sacked at the expense likely of NES coming in who I think we dodged a bullet with before now.

My issue with Cooper is he spent a truck load of pounds at Forest. Could he adapt to a more thrifty environment at Palace? Not sure.

respectfully i make it 3 wins in the last 18 !! is that the height of your ambition of a manager you want to see at Palace , Lucky he lasted so long IMHO

Cooper appears to be someone unable to motivate players even though the fans appear to like him.
He doesn't do it for me and I would be disappointed to have him join Palace.

Am I missing something..??

If not being a football manager - must be the only job on the planet - where you under achieve in your last position but instantly become a more attractive and desirable option elsewhere - really..!!

Forest looking to replace Cooper with Nuno Esperito Santos after his under achieving failed spell at Spurs which led to his sacking after only 4 months?

I’m not saying we should appoint Cooper but he is undoubtedly a decent coach with good experience and a far more suitable candidate than some names being mentioned.

So who, realistically, would you suggest to replace Roy when the time comes?

It seems highly improbable, but Paolo Fonseca is a name that always crops up. Lille are flying, have tuned a profit on transfers the last three seasons and he plays an attractive brand of football and has shown he can adapt his formation and style to suit the challenges posed. Plus his contract is up in the summer, I think. Like I say, it seems improbable, but it would certainly be the sexy appointment!!

What I find pertinent is how much longer is Parish going to give Hodgson? Roy talks of this being his last season with Palace, will his departure be sooner than he thinks? Others have been sacked for less and Parish always protects his investment. Perhaps the Brighton result will reveal a little more as to what is in store.

On the Cooper front i felt all in all he did a decent job at Forest last year. He basically got a squad of premier league players that had not played together and i also thought probably came with some baggage given other clubs had let them go. I did not expect him to keep them up given the circumstances.
I think he is suffering from second season syndrone and the loss of Awoniyi who has missed the last 5 games and played in all their wins this season.

I don’t know why I always remember this, but Neil Warnock got the sack second time around when we only had 19 points after the game in between Christmas and new year which was a 0-0 draw against QPR. So thinking on what you said, Roy’s got three tough games to get us beyond that total as we’re on 17.

Not saying he’ll get the sack if he doesn’t get beyond that figure because we’ve learnt a lot since then and we could easily rack up enough points in the new year to stay out of trouble, but I always sort of gauge how we’re doing each season because I remember that season

Forest are only 3 points off us and have sacked their manager, apparently they've had a terrible season so far. I'm not sure what that says about us and Roy Hodgson.
One would expect some "new manager bounce" with them, and Everton look good enough to climb out of trouble, so unless we start performing it's 16th or 17th entering the new year hoping the bottom 3 don't pick up.

Obviously, has to be tempered by the fact that Cooper got over 300 million of new players in. We got Lerma, Henderson and Holding. Staying in the division is a return on our investment. Forest's owner may be expecting a bit more bang for his buck.

I think to compare Palace with Forest at the moment is comparing apples with pears in lots of different ways.

Forest got promoted with a lot of loan players and felt they had to build a whole new squad in one summer to have a chance of survival (as many clubs do now).

We did something similar after promotion, and it is hard not to end up in a frantic trolley-dash followed by a chaotic period in which there is no natural first XI or structure. It could easily be argued that Cooper did a good job in the circumstances.

Our own circumstances are very different of course.
