Jobi McAnuff
Palace took their revenge for the home defeat by Leeds with an epic 1-0 victory at Elland Road, writes Peter Gillman.
They soaked up intense pressure to preserve the first-half lead secured by another goal from Jobi McAnuff.
Palace had the better of the first half, missing two golden chances before they went ahead. On four minutes AJ hit a weak shot from a great position after a pass from Jobi reached him in the Leeds area.
On 30 minutes, Sullivan pushed a Leigertwood shot onto the post and Hall fired the rebound into the side netting from close in.
Palace soaked up a spell of Leeds pressure and then on 42 minutes AJ picked up the ball from Boyce on the halfway line.
Leeds defenders back-pedalled as AJ sped towards the Leeds penalty area, allowing him to thread a pass to Jobi who took one touch and drove the ball home.
Palace looked for a second goal to clinch victory but then fell back on defence to protect their lead. The key save came on 67 minutes when Gabor somehow blocked a header from Kalgallon, unmarked when a freekick reached him at the far post.
Leeds rang the changes with three substitutions but Palace were still dangerous on breakaways and had a good penalty shout turned down when AJ went down in the Leeds area on 80 minutes.
Ref Phil Joslin added three extra minutes but Palace held on triumphantly for all three points.
The result puts Palace eight points ahead of Wolves in seventh place - and eight points behind Sheffield United in second,
PALACE: Kiraly; Boyce, Hall, Ward, Leigertwood; Hughes, Watson, Riihilahti, McAnuff (Reich 90 + 1); Johnson, Morrison (Soares 72).
