The Football League
Palace went down to their third successive home defeat, losing 0-1 to a breezy Argyle side who outplayed them in the first half, reports Peter Gillman.
The Eagles improved after the break but still could not find the net. The result pushes them into 16h place.
Palace started brightly but were soon having to contend with some brisk Plymouth counter attacks. On 34 minutes Argyle’s Norris crossed from close range but failed to find two fellow attackers inside the six-yard box.
A minute later Kiraly made a brilliant save to defy Plymouth number 9 Ebanks-Blake. Two minutes later the same player hit the post and it was Chadwick who was quickest to follow up, slashing the ball past Kiraly.
Manager Taylor brought on Kuqi at half time and Palace began to create chances. The best fell to Dougie, who went clear in the area only for keeper McCormick to save well.
On 63 minutes Dougie wove his way into the box but his final pass to Clinton was narrowly cleared. Then Kuqi missed his kick when he was onside to a through ball from Butterfield.
A frustrated Palace began to fall away, and Kiraly kept them in the game with another brave save. Palace pressed hard in the final moments, with Soares and Freedman missing the best chances.
For the third match in succession the Palace fans had to listen to jubilant away support. Palace were jeered off the pitch, having failed to score in the last two home matches, and notching just two points from the last 15.
Palace are now just three places and four points above next week's away opponents, QPR.
Palace: Kiraly; Lawrence, Ward (Green 73), Cort, Borrowdale; Soares, Fletcher (Butterfield 46), Kennedy, Reich (Kuqi 46); Freedman, Morrison.
Subs not used: Flinders, Watson.
