Shefki Kuqi scored the winner on his return to Selhurst Park in Swansea's 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace.

It ended Palace's run of three straight victories as they bid to avoid relegation following their 10 point deduction.

Swansea settled first with midfielder Andrea Orlandi having a go from distance and they went ahead in the 14th minute. Orlandi fed former Palace striker Kuqi who finished with aplomb.

Palace started to claw their way back into the match but Nathan Dyer almost added another for Swansea as his shot went into the side netting.

Referee Graham Scott turned down Palace appeals for a penalty after Alan Lee was hauled down by Kuqi. Lee later put a Lee Hills cross wide of the goal.

Julian Speroni was on good form to deny Orlandi four minutes into the second period, while Eagles sub Kieran Djilali put an effort over the bar.

Swans full-back Fede Bessone tested Speroni, while sub Sean Scannell attempted an overhead kick that went off target and that summed up Palace's evening.

Palace: Speroni, Clyne, Hill, Ertl, Hills, Butterfield (Djilali 57), Carle (Scannell 81), Danns, Derry, Ambrose, Lee (Andrew 57).

Not Used: John, Comley, N'Diaye, Wynter.
