Crystal Palace got their first win at Chelsea in more than three decades with a deserved 2-1 success.

Bakary Sako, and Joel Ward with the winner, both scored second goals of the season as the Eagles claimed their first three points at Stamford Bridge since 1982.

Palace emulated Sunderland's April 2014 success in being the only other side to win at Chelsea's home under boss Jose Mourinho.

It was also Palace's eighth away league wins from 10 under manager Alan Pardew as the South Londoners spoiled Mourinho's 200th Premier League game.

Chelsea's new signing Pedro fired wide of the goal from the edge of the area before Palace had two excellent opportunities to score.

Sako's right-footed shot was thwarted by Thibaut Courtois, who then denied Yohan Cabaye's side-footer when the Frenchman just had the keeper to beat.

Palace no.1 Alex McCarthy kept his team in the game, making successive blocks from Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas.

Sako gave Palace the lead on 65 minutes after his initial attempt from sub Yannick Bolasie's cross was blocked by Cesar Azpilicueta.

Blues substitute Radamel Falcao headed in at the near post from Pedro's cross in the 79th minute to draw his side level.

But Palace refused to lie down and got the winner in the 81st minute. Bolasie's cross to the back post found Sako who centred the ball for Ward to head home and wrap up a historic win.

Chelsea: Courtois, Ivanovic, Zouma, Cahill, Azpilicueta (Kenedy), Fabregas, Matic (Loftus-Cheek), Pedro, Hazard, Willian (Falcao ), Costa.

Not used: Begovic, Baba, Mikel, Remy.

Palace: McCarthy, Ward, Dann, Delaney, Souare, Puncheon, Cabaye, McArthur, Zaha (Bolasie), Wickham, Sako.

Not used: Mariappa, Hennessey, Gayle, Mutch.

Palace boss Alan Pardew: "It was a really good performance today - one of the best performances I've seen from one of my teams in terms of composure. We can frighten teams with our pace and we did that from start to finish. Our defenders had to defend really well and they did."

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho: "We didn't deserve to lose. But Palace gave us a very difficult game. The result should be a draw, which would still be bad for us. We did enough not to lose."
