Crystal Palace had to settle for a goalless draw at home to Cardiff City.

The Eagles bombarded the Cardiff goal with 31 shots on goal but were unable to break the deadlock after some errant finishing.

They started brightly as Andros Townsend hit the bar with just a minute gone after collecting Wilfried Zaha's neat pass.

Skipper Luka Milivojevic and the lively Zaha were among the many Eagles who had decent attempts on goal but were either thwarted by keeper Neil Etheridge or blocks from the Bluebirds defence.

Palace went in search of the breakthrough after the interval with Zaha again going close with Sol Bamba deflecting for a corner.

Etheridge then made a fine stop, diving to left left to push away Zaha's fizzing strike, while Cheikhou Kouyate and Max Meyer blasted over.

Zaha, James McArthur and substitute Connor Wickham all tried in vain to fins the net but just did not have that killer finish.

Palace's lucked was summed up after Milivojevic's free-kick smacked against the upright, with Palace denied by the woodwork for a second time.

Eagles goalie Vicente Guaita superbly saved from Kadeem Harris at point blank range to keep it level. Zaha, Wickham and Patrick van Aanholt all had further attempts but Palace had to make to with a frustrating point.
