Crystal Palace centenary

Crystal Palace's promotion hopes were dealt a blow after a 2-0 defeat at rivals Preston.

David Nugent forced Gabor Kiraly into a fine stop early on, before Brett Ormerod scored on his debut to give the home side a 13th minute lead.

Kiraly was called into action again, this time to thwart Ormerod for netting his second of the night.

Clinton Morrison wasted a great opportunity to level the scores from four yards.

Preston doubled the advantage in the 49th minute as Brian O'Neil headed home a Graham Alexander cross.

Former Eagles stopper Carlo Nash saved well late on from ANDY JOHNSON and Preston maintained their unbeaten run in the Championship to 19 games.
