Iain Dowie won his first home game in charge of the Eagles as Palace beat MK Wimbledon 3-1.
Highlight of the game was Andy Johnson's 30-yard effort to make it 3-1 - his second of the game - after Danny Granville had regained Palace's lead.
The match was delayed 45 minutes as the strong winds caused damage to two of the Selhurst Park stands.
Johnson and Neil Shipperley went close for Palace early on, while Dons' Jermaine Darlington forced CEDRIC BERTHELIN into a save on 17 minutes.
Dons goalkeeper Steve Banks then had stopped a 25-yard Michael Hughes shot and a Johnson header from Mark Hudson's cross.
Johnson broke the deadlock with a header on 32 minutes from Danny Butterfield's centre. Shipperley and Hughes had further chances and Butterfield drove a rasper from 20 yards straight at the keeper.
Peter Hawkins struck his shot wide for the visitors before the break. But in the second half, they came out strongly and equalised five minutes inside.
Jobi McAnuff drove home a left-foot shot from the edge of the box for the leveller.
Granville put Palace 2-1 up from inside the area following a good move involving Gray and Shipperley on the stroke of the hour mark.
Then Johnson put the game beyond reach with a great goal, lobbing Banks from 30 yards, in the 89th minute.
Crystal Palace: BERTHELIN, Granville, Butterfield, Popovic, Johnson, Shipperley, Riihilahti, Hughes, Hudson, Gray, Routledge.
Subs: Symons, Freedman, Borrowdale, Derry, Black.
