Re,my question,you dodged the point,no?

Off for lunch now followed by Swansea match!

Did he bollocks legal.

Its you and 'liberal' others like you that keep dodging the point.

The referendum result was a backlash from those at the sharp end of 'multiculturalism' who have seen and experienced their communities being taken from them.... not the obvious targets but places like Lincoln where so many migrant workers have settled there it now resembles an Eastern European town with the High Street full of shops catering for Polish and other nations food preferences and trying to see a doctor within 7 days proves to be an impossibility. I could go on...

You simply don't like a multi-ethnic society here,no? That's what I thought was the underpinning of your underlying approach.I respect your honesty.

It's not really about one's personal preference though is it legal. There are far bigger issues.

The problem with your approach, and so many like you, is that you wish to pigeon hole opinion on the one hand and yet you try to blur any discussion about the positives and negatives of multi culture, immigration, population density etc, because you know it's an argument you would lose in terms of facts.

I think like everyone with entrenched views, you have a good understanding of half of the story.

It's all about perspective based on personal experience.
Real life has little time for philosophy.

There is a lot in common between say the criminisation of certain words aka hate speech on the left and the intrusive nature of governments on the right. They all seek to control the population and it would serve people on both sides well to align themselves to that rather than be at loggerheads. As it stands it's easy to buy peoples votes on the cheap by appealing to their prejudices rather than holding governments to account. Of course this is rarely examined because people are so fixated on each other rather than bothering to find commonality.

This thread is an unfortunate example of that. It just adds to a pointless us vs them dynamic. These individuals presenting the ITV news may well have got their jobs based on location and merit, and if you're on one hand going to criticise those wanting quotas, at least realise you're doing exactly the same thing when you're sitting there offended and with a racial tally chart during the news. If I set up a thread bemoaning the racial quota of a random TV show or something arbitrary like that I'd rightly be derided for it. If you're offended by the hue of people presenting the news because you've convinced yourself that they may have been fast tracked or advantaged behind you scenes, then your problem is as much with race as politics.

You seem determined to steer this where you want it to go.
Firstly, this thread was about political bias on the news which needless to say, encompasses a whole lot of issues. "Race" has really nothing to do with it. Aside from the fact that it does not exist in science, only in peoples minds, you would like to believe that the whole debate is about skin colour or prejudice because it plays into a narrative that suits you. In reality, the issues around the promotion of and the effects of immigration and multi culture on an existing population are complex and widespread. You insult those who question it's purpose by reducing a discussion to such narrow parameters.

Those presenting ITV news are as British as you and have cut glass english accents, so your opinion that some 'must think they have tuned on to a foreign channel by mistake' is an unfortunate and demeaning comment at best. If you say something like that and accuse anyone of commenting on it as 'steering the conversation' ina racial direction that's your business. That's just code again for 'you're playing the race code'.

I have insulted nobody. I have in fact called for common cause amongst left and right in this very thread and replied in a dignified manner considering the words I'm replying to.

I don't know about any race card BPF but you are now playing the offended flower. The topic was fair representation on TV. One which can be discussed without the need for histrionics.
You as good as called me a racist and you are now crying foul?

Discussion over.

Your 'foreign country' racial comment and others here were dubious and offensive. You're free to say them and I'm free to reply. That's kind of how it works 'discussion over' or not.

Only to those trying hard to be offended. You deliberately read too much into words.

You made it your mission to take this thread to this conclusion. Well done.

To put in my tuppence worth, I thought I was watching a foreign channel can easily be construed as rascist so it would be a foolish thing to say unless you deliberately wanted to appear rascist.

I read too much into it? This coming from someone whose whole premise here is that he tuned into ITV news, saw one too many non white faces out or the 3 or so people on camera, decided that there had to be liberal bias quota scheme behind their presence rather than ability, and that people watching might think it was 'foreign telly' despite the fact ITV news presenters all talk with cut glass English accents.

There are an awful lot of white newscasters on the news. I actually watched yesterday and everyone was white. Am I complaining about that? No.

I already tried to take this conversatoion in a direction of commonality rather than difference, I repeat:

"There is a lot in common between say the criminisation of certain words aka hate speech on the left and the intrusive nature of governments on the right. Please don't

I don't think anyone would be in doubt as to what you would say or why.
