Cannot dispute this. A keeper who has no confidence to win the ball in the air when he is taller. Maybe being a beanpole who doesn't want to work in the gym is a reason.

It's like an under 10's match with all the oppo kids, manager and parents shouting, "He can't catch it, cross it in the air." Keeper's confidence drops like one of his catches and boom boom boom, game over, again.

I took my 6 year old boy today, was the 1st people in the ground.
We hang around at the tunnel waiting for the players to come out and warm up, so my Ronnie could see the players close up.
The keepers came out first , hennessey looked all embarrassed that there was 4/5 kids waiting to see him, Speroni all smiles saying hello and waving.
I was looking at hennessey thinking what a waste it is that he's a professional footballer, with such little about him.

He spent five minutes with my two last season after the game chatting and signing autographs. Not a bad lad.

Fair enough. I'm not saying he's a bad lad. I'm saying he's as wet as the pitch (which had the sprinklers on from 1:30)

He was weak and got bullied in his own area, so just like at West Ham we were losing because of our keeper, and then the confidence just drains from the team and then it's just a catalogue of errors.

I agree, this was my take on it as well.

Seen the first goal. Clear foul on Hennessey. He goes up to make a simple catch, gets clattered by Sunderland forward who is nowhere near the ball, ball is dropped and is whacked in off the post. I can't see what ref Marriner was thinking to allow it.
Tale of two moments for me. That goal should never have been allowed, and Tomkins should have put his sitter away - same as at West Ham. Yes, we collapsed at the end of the first half - but it could have been a different story.

He is the worst keeper I can remember who clearly doesn't have the confidence of the players in front of him. Must go.

Sorry forgot to write anything!! still reeling from this afternoon. Sitting in the Holmesdale I thought it was a clear foul, the ref asked the linesman who gave the thumbs up to give the goal. I thought lino was awful all afternoon (this is not an excuse). Normally you cant sneeze anywhere near the goalkeeper without free kick being given. Perhaps WH should have gone down clutching his head.

Perhaps all the posters who have been quick to get on Mandanda's back should come and defend Hennessy.

I tell you what though - if the other ten players had put a shift in we wouldn't all be on this thread now scapegoating Wayne even if he is patently sh1te at this level. Most of the rest are too.

He's obviously not good enough as many others have said. Doesn't use his height well, has had a couple of misunderstandings with a defender that have led to goals, and isn't the best shot stopper. Every keeper, in all the leagues, makes great saves throughout the season. He doesn't do it consistently enough.

Watching the Butterfield hat-trick I realised. He was s*** then and he's s*** now.

I thought it was a foul.

But what has not been mentioned & conveniently forgotten on here is the score would have been more if Wayne had not made a great save in the 7th or 8th minute & another one in the second half.

Ok its his job to save shots etc, but its also the responsibility of the 10 other outfield players to defend & play as a team.

Wayne is a nice decent bloke & the character assassination on here is despicable.
