Apparently it Sampson was found to be in breach of the 2010 FA own rules on racism. Twice. Unsurprisingly, when you break the rules of your employer, they do tend to take a negative view.

Lianne Sanderson says Mark Sampson was the reason she returned to the England fold in 2015: "The way Mark treated Eni, I felt Hope Powell was treating me like that. I felt I was succeeding under Mark, and I felt he gave me the necessary tools to succeed in that environment. It was Mark who persuaded me to come back to England in 2015." When is the parliamentary hearing about her then?

I don't think he's guilty of intended hurtful racism. Definitely guilty of unfunny attempt at racial humour that goes on in changing rooms and the school playground. His is from the '70s and '80s which he wouldn't attempt in a changing room of predominantly black male players, whether professional or a team from Thornton Heath. Can you imagine Parish saying that to Benteke or Sakho if their family were living in Africa. 'Hey Mama, I heard your parents are coming over for the game. They're welcome in the lounges in the main stand. Make sure they don't bring Ebola.' Would anyone here say it to the black guy in the gym who bench presses 120kg? She should've brought it up at the time if she was so offended. But also, judging by the show of solidarity recently, he should've thought twice before saying it to the well spoken, law studying black female? All round that was an epic fail of humour. Football is definitely trying to sanitise the sport and clear the decks of any unnecessary prejudices because some, and growing probably, don't find this sort of thing amusing or entertaining. Some who don't know when to keep their mouths shut when unfunny attempts at banter enter their heads will be the fall guys. If they can't see that early on then it confirms their stupidity.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him take legal action if there's ANY doubt should this prove to be less than a concrete case of racism

Football is trying to appeal to all and not just the comprehensive high school playground rules of humour. Like it or not, it's happening.

All this says to me is don't employ the chipper person....always that percent willing to play the victim for gain, financial or otherwise. What is accepted as offence is ridiculous.

Current bullets from today's hearing: Sampson appears to have difficulty judging the appropriate boundaries when engaging in 'banter' with the players. Had Sampson remained as manager, she would have recommended he attended equal opportunities and diversity training as soon as possible. All employees of the FA, regardless of their position and no matter how senior, should be given diversity training Any training should be appropriately tailored (although by no means limited) to the sorts of circumstances likely to arise in a footballing environment with a particular focus on "banter" and "jokes". So how come the bits in bold weren't applied to him at the time?
